Episode 32 - The New Zealand tea room

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/01/2012 22:06

Well folks, here we are, beside the hot springs of New Zealand.

The tea room (with the customary distressed chintz sofa) overlooks the steaming, bubbling lake. For the bold and sporty, hiking, biking and sky-diving are on offer. Personally, I'm not planning to leave the spa.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly. The cardinal rule remains: no fisticuffs.

Today I thought of all our little tea room rugby players ( and teh not so little fine lad) While I was gardening I could hear the shrieks and yelling from the primary school tag rugby festival down the road. They seemed to have spread grass clippings nicely all over the path and into the road when I went to pick boy from school so I guess a nice time was had.

Anyone care for a late night snackeral? fresh bread with honey or condensed milk?

mistlethrush · 16/03/2012 09:44

Football club on Wednesday afternoon was out on the field in the sunshine which was great - particularly as they can then spread out a bit more and put the second years and first years in separate groups which is much better for both. When I went in to get them it was obvious they had been out because there was mud all the way up the path (which itself is some distance from the field) and through the entrance up to the hall - which was completely covered in lumps and smears of mud! Shower was certainly required that night!!!

Wine?

UniS · 16/03/2012 20:42

Wine please

Scout19075 · 17/03/2012 19:19

Sorry you didn't get it last night -- I had a rotten headache and was in bed by 8:15.

Happy St Patrick's Day Shamrock to those inclined. In the US everyone's Irish on the 17th so I just wish everyone a happy day. Me, well, I do have a bit of Irish ancestry so feel I can "celebrate."

Hmm. Could I have some green wine?

I don't like beer but green beer is the thing at home.

Once made green eggs & ham for a Thinking Day breakfast fundraiser, though. Those looked a bit gross....

Scout19075 · 17/03/2012 20:33

Does anyone have any plans for tomorrow?

CMOTDibbler · 17/03/2012 20:45

I will be going out for a nice, peaceful ride Grin

Today, I have had two children from waking onwards. We went to see Disney on Ice, after riding, so that was...fun....

Wine anyone ? The adult males have still not returned from the rugby

UniS · 17/03/2012 22:00

Green eggs and ham? would you could you? In a boat?

Hi all
I've been playing a very pretty game called auditorium ,music, light and logic. Fab.

DHs choir managed to win their class in teh comp they did today. DH did sing , he was touch and go over last few days as his voice has been in his boots ( cold) and he was signing stunt tenor. Dr Footlights seemed to do teh trick and he lasted the 3 pieces OK. Or so he says, Boy and I were else where.

How come boy wakes up at 6.45 on a saturday today. This is unheard of. He was quite excited about the tooth fairy leaving him 20p tho. Has already spent it. He bought a truly gaudy plastic light up flashing cutlass for 50p at a fund-raiser coffee morning.

Scout19075 · 18/03/2012 07:43

Happy Mother's Day!

or am I to say:

Happy Mothering Sunday!

Either way, hope you all have a lovely, spoil-filled day.

mistlethrush · 18/03/2012 08:54

MOrning

I really must go to the osteopath... trouble is that my back is always fine during the day when I need to ring up and make the appointment, it just wakes me up every morning too early.

And DH has just announced that he needs to work today.

I think I might take DS to the RHS place nearby.

beanandspud · 18/03/2012 11:52

Morning All!

Thanks Happy Mother's Day! Thanks

Nothing much planned for today. Have been away a couple of nights this week and quite looking forward to a day of pottering with Small Bean and DH.

MT - I hope you are planning tea and cake at The Very Nice RHS Tearoom Grin

Scout19075 · 18/03/2012 20:00

"Toddler" gave me a mug that reads "I [heart] Spreadsheets." HAHAHAHAHA. Does he know his Mom or what? Hahahahahah. Bless him, the look on his face when he ran down the hall towards me, carrying the gift bag, was priceless. He has no idea what's special about today but he loved being a "postman" and delivering his bag.

Happy Mother's Day, Maud!

Did you have a nice day?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/03/2012 20:27

Yes, I did. Lovely card, lots of very nice presents, lunch out with the family and a long snooze trying to sleep off this cold! But I still feel a little envious of anyone who went to that particular RHS garden!

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 18/03/2012 20:30

Sounds like a lovely day, Maud, though I'm sorry you're still suffering with a cold. Sad

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/03/2012 21:31

Don't worry, Scout. It is only a cold.

::feeble cough::

mistlethrush · 18/03/2012 22:26

I had a lovely card... with a hysterically funny 'poem' in it.

Time at RHS garden was lovely - everything good about ds was in evidence.

Tearoom had stupidly long queues - however, they now have a tea cabin in the garden - and we were first in the queue Grin

Had to prevent a melt-down when ds and DH got home from their sword seminar (karate) - ds had been low-level misbehaving througout - DH got home and sent him for a nap. He probably needed a nap - but it wasn't going to happen, and DH now needs to accept that. I calmed ds down, squared what needed to happen with DH and went to sing - we did Maunder's Olivet to Calvary.

Dh has spent the day working.

Maud - try this Wine for the cold - hope its better soon.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/03/2012 22:29

Thank you, Mistle! Cheers!
