The moving castle tea room touches down for the 29th time

Welcome to the tea room. Open to those with one child and those with more and maybe some with none ( hi dave the trucker).

This time we are heading to the mists and mellow fruitfulness of Autumn in a moving castle with a mind of its own. The roaring fire is maintained by magic and Mellors the gardener handles wine and spirits along with massage duties.

The first rule of the tea room is this
No fisticuffs.
The second is this
Put the kettle on for Brew and help yourself to a Biscuit

Ouchy. I wake up then if I go to bed too early mind - I have to be up until at least 11pm to get through the night. Of course I'm often up much later than that Blush but that is a minimum really.

Can I just swear really loudly for a sec??

I am sick to death of the fucking mosquitoes in this house! Them and the sodding flies - I don't know where or how they are getting in (unless it's down the bloody chimney) but every night I am killing a minimum of 5 of the feckers and probably missing the same again (although I might be killing them, they come back). Every day I am killing the flies as well - one day there were 12 of the buggers, I was constantly on the go with my electronic swatty racquet, every time one was killed another one took its place!!
I am sick of them! Angry
(but they're still not as bad as wasps, I guess)

Hello.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 19:48

Hello, my lovely. How are you today?

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 19:54

Hello! I'm still a bit poorly (looking at you, Toddler!) but had a semi-productive day. How are you today?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 19:56

I'm fine. We've had a good day and now we're watching Doctor Who.

Are your sniffles getting better or worse, do you think? Would some Wine and a foot rub from Mellors help?

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:03

We're watching the (recorded) Strictly. Toddler hasn't been in bed long (routine always a bit different when he's at his Nana's).

Think the sniffles are about the same. I have a nice sinus headache at the moment. Going to take my heavy-duty American drugs soon.

I was hoping to have the Christmas cake in the oven right now but dinner ran over and I don't want to stay up past midnight waiting for it. So I'll do it in the morning before lunch (birthday lunch for MiL). Mincement is brewing so will cook that tomorrow, too. Do need to do a load of laundry -- someone had an accident and I don't want to take it home with me. (blurgh)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 20:08

Eeeewww. Filthy laundry. You have my sympathies. My clean laundry is on the line getting wet - I reckon it still has a better chance of drying outdoors than draped around the house.

::domestic goddess (failed) emoticon::

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:14

Well, (obviously) it was Toddler so I will forgive him. He's also spilled water at dinner (again, to be expected) and got a bit of lasagna on his top. That I wouldn't mind taking home but the messy jeans from the nappy faily, not so much.

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:17

Oh dear, Toddler's just started chattering.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 20:23

Oh yes, it's not blameworthy, but my memories of the mercifully few occasions I had to deal with nappy failure are not good. ::shudder::

Have some Wine before you go up to him.

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:25

Usually nappy fail is just wet but not this one. (Envy Tea Room Special) Not really needed while out and about and with a massive sinus headache.

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:26

Oh, and no, he's just chattering to Bunny & Creamy so not worth going up (will just wind him up).

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 20:26

Yeah, I'd guessed that. ::being brave here:: Poor you.

LittleDeerandMe · 10/09/2011 20:28

Hello Smile

Sorry to hear you feel rotten Scout. What did you do today Maud? Thanks for Anna Karenina advice. I don't want to stop reading it, I know if I put it down now it will be hard to pick it up again. I usually try to read at least three of the booker shortlist before the winner is announced (so that I can go 'what? Are the judges crazy? Grin) but I think this year I'll just have to forget about that and just read them when I get the time.

We had a nice day. We went to the opticians as I needed an eye test,ok not normally a lovely thing to do but LittleDeer loved it! He was completely fascinated. So it was nice. Then we went to the cafe in the bookshop and I read the papers, LittleDeer ate a cupcake and read millions of books (he kept returning books he'd read to the children's section and coming back with more Grin). We stayed for hours!

LittleDeer is really into rhyming at the mo. It's lovely, but hard work! Rhyming comes naturally to dh but not at all to me.

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:32

Hello!

LittleDeerandMe · 10/09/2011 20:35

Btw at the opticians today it was the first time I've been asked 'do you work outside the home?' and my answer has been no. It felt really strange when I saw her type home into the occupation section of the form.

I'm really loving being a sahm but for some reason I feel the need to point out that I had a career and will be returning to it at some point. I don't know why I feel this way, as I said I am really enjoying being a sahm. Oddly the main reasons seem to be that I love the calm and the order, when working since LittleDeer has been born it always seemed hectic and the house was always a mess. Now the surfaces are always wiped, meals are always reasonably good etc. It seems my inner domesticity is coming out!! I feel lik such a traditional woman!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 20:37

I bought a new CD/radio to replace the one whose CD bit conked out months ago, had lunch out with The Bloke and The Girl and went to a local event where I bought some great books for 20p and some plants to fill the empty bit in the flower bed. So, all good.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 10/09/2011 20:38

Please please please don't let Christmas start yet! I am still pretending that it is a rather cool summer.
Although we just spent the morning in the local Horrid Town buying warm pyjamas and fleeces at Primark ... I intend to spend a lot on warm clothes so that winter is as harmonious as possible. We have a goodly collection of old pallets firewood, which should help, and an invitation to the Mediterannean coast for the end of October ...
Scout, in extremis, I think the odd item of clothing can be lost ...

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:39

Oh dear, cat fight. (Literally, in-law's cats outside screaming at another cat or animal.)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/09/2011 20:40

Warm pyjamas are the root of all contentment, I think.

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:45

I agree with Maud. I'm very Envy of Toddler's fleecy one-piece-with-feet 'jamas.

LittleDeerandMe · 10/09/2011 20:47

Scout you can get those for adults, my sister has a pair!

LittleDeerandMe · 10/09/2011 20:49

Jim jams, a cup of tea, a real fire and a good book. Bliss.

Hmm....does that mean I'm old?! Hey no wonder I'm really happy lately, I have all those every evening!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 10/09/2011 20:49

Wish I could be a sahm ... on Monday I will be able to take Wrigglw to school and tell them about the Terrible Fear Of Hand Driers and just feel part of what she is doing.

Maud, I was going to replace the CD player in my car - it didn't work at all, then bought a CD-player cleaner kit for almost nothing on t'internet ... if that works for you, you could have a spare. Agree re warm pyjamas, although they do need to be combined with a good book.

Scout19075 · 10/09/2011 20:49

REALLY?!?!?
