The moving castle tea room touches down for the 29th time

Welcome to the tea room. Open to those with one child and those with more and maybe some with none ( hi dave the trucker).

This time we are heading to the mists and mellow fruitfulness of Autumn in a moving castle with a mind of its own. The roaring fire is maintained by magic and Mellors the gardener handles wine and spirits along with massage duties.

The first rule of the tea room is this
No fisticuffs.
The second is this
Put the kettle on for Brew and help yourself to a Biscuit

Good thanks.

Brew would be lovely.

I can just imagine the expression on the faces of whoever you're visiting if I turned up to play with a train set Grin

UniS · 16/09/2011 09:24

One of my colleagues came over to play with Boys duplo train set when boy was a toddler. Officially I think it was a production meeting but it turned in to playing with trains and making a track that used ALL the pieces.

Amber - mc and I might be around in the area at half-term-ish (I say ish as mc has a 2 wk half term Hmm) - would be nice to meet the horse potentially... Smile Don't go and do too much today will you? Do try to take it a bit easy! - here's another Brew

Anaesthetics and me don't go very well - I'm sure it takes at least 3 weeks to get over even a relatively short one.

Sticky gingerbread (Amber - here's a slice with no sticks though, specially for you Grin) and Brew anyone?

amberlight · 16/09/2011 09:58

I'm sure the horse would be delighted to meet you Grin. I think I'll be deep in the middle of the radiotherapy each working day but not the weekends, and quite possibly they'll arrange appointments so I can get them out of the way first thing. It would be good to meet people (well, I've met a few of you, but not all!). I just worry a lot about people planning long journeys to meet me whilst I'm in the middle of this lot of treatment, in case I have to let them down Confused

There's no sticks in the sticky gingerbread? Excellent - I'll have a slice then please Smile and Brew would be lovely.

Trying to do FineLad's CV. Hmm.

mistlethrush · 16/09/2011 10:14

Lets see how you're doing and we'll work out if its sensible to even arrange anything closer to the time.

Scout19075 · 16/09/2011 13:01

amber, will be at PiL over the Christmas holidays. They're used to me inviting all sorts over. Wink I'm sure you'd fit right in.

TS is happily napping after a busy morning at soft play. Oh how he loves the ball pit. It's worth the entry free (discounted Friday morning entry, otherwise it costs two arms and a leg) just to watch his delight at falling into the balls and wiggling around, laughing.

Oooooh, looks like MrScout's birthday present has shipped. Still waiting for confirmation that his anniversay present has. Now I have to figure out what to get him for Christmas.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/09/2011 13:37

Doesn't everybody buy their child toys that they not so secretly want to play with?

Soupe du jour (Waitrose had a special deal on jours again) et petits pains tres ooh la la on the sideboard, for anyone in need.

amberlight · 16/09/2011 13:54

Sacre Bleu, those petits pains are tres tres ooh la la! I shall shield the eyes of the faith leaders, just in case! Shock

Scout19075 · 16/09/2011 13:55

I know we do, Maud. Wink I also road test any noisy toys to work out if they'd drive me crazy in the long term (constant use).

mistlethrush · 16/09/2011 13:58

Lets see - Brio (tick) Lego (tick) - apart from the star wars ones) - Playmobile (tick), wooden blocks (tick) puzzles (tick). Oh - and I picked up mc's new violin yesterday - its actually old rather than new. It sounds LOVELY!!! Grin

purpleknittingmum · 16/09/2011 14:00

Hiya!

Hope everyone is well!

I had a free facial today! Just had to send in a coupon from Best magazine a few weeks ago! Might go again one time and treat myself to a proper facial as it was really good, but it was just a mini one and the full one has more massage

Right, bit of a flying visit, off today and want to get a bit of housework done!

Scout19075 · 16/09/2011 15:56

Yay for free facials, PKM.

Is it too early for Wine? Not a stressful day or anything, just fancy some.

Think my cold has turned into a sinus infection. In fact, fairly certain it has. But I haven't had it long enough to go to the doctor (they wouldn't do anything about it yet). My face hurts (so does s section of my head which I've learned is connected to the sinus cavity).

What's everyone doing this weekend?

LittleDeerandMe · 16/09/2011 18:35

Hi guys!

Much more cheerful day today. It was pizza day at LittleDeers school and I volunteered to help so a lovely day hanging out at the school, keeping the fire in the pizza oven burning and just feeling very relaxed in the woods. Then a playdate after school.

Yay for free facials! Yay for new houses!

Brew for Amber, and Wine for Scout!

Scout19075 · 16/09/2011 19:12

YAY for a calmer/more cheerful day, LittleDeer!

Scout19075 · 16/09/2011 19:34

Oh dear. MrScout is stuck on a broken down train. It's the first time he's gone into his London office since before he went to the US last month and he gets stuck on the train.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 16/09/2011 19:43

Me (you can't be LittleDeer, can you?, you have to be the 'Me' bit) what is pizza day? And why do you have woods at school - sounds very nice.

Free facial sounds wonderful!

mistlethrush · 16/09/2011 21:29

Well, we have survived MC missing golden time because he was talking too much on Wednesday. I went in to see the teacher (about the 'girl' issue) on Thurs am (very briefly with mc) and also (very briefly) without mc to find out exactly what was happening.

I am positive that she thought that I was going in to complain about the loss of golden time - and hope that she was pleasantly surprised with me saying that I was perfectly happy with him losing it and would support her and talk about how to avoid losing it next week. Grin

Was possibly being away tonight / tomorrow but have stayed at home as rather tired - I'm sure that's not only me feeling like that at the end of this week!

Wine ?

Scout19075 · 16/09/2011 21:47

MT, what did the teacher say regarding MC's girl? [nosey emoticon]

Tee2072 · 16/09/2011 21:52

Evening all.

Sounds like a busy day all the way around! Went up to see the house again with Mr Tee. He doesn't get excited about things so he's not bouncing of the wall like I am but he does like it!

Ooh, I love facials! Envy at a free one.

Scout bummer about Mr Scout and the sinus infection. Have some Wine. It will help. I promise. Wink

In laws down tomorrow so cleaned today and need to finish tidying and then cook lots of nice things! And start organizing a move!!!

UniS · 16/09/2011 22:48

Oooo, annoyed with my daughter! She went on a Girls Brigade Camp yesterday. 10 mins before she was getting picked up, I suggested she put everything into a bigger green holdall instead of struggling to put it all in the smaller suitcase. She phoned just after 8am this morning, I thought something was wrong! She asked if, when we were repacking, was her wash bag left.....took a look, couldn't see it. We re packed in the hall, not there, looked in bathroom. Found the wash bag, that only has make up in, on her chair in her room, so even if we hadn't repacked, it would still have been left, but of course it is MY fault!!

rant over!! :o

amberlight · 17/09/2011 11:14

PKM, ah yes, a mum's job is to be in the wrong. Annoying, isn't it.
Brew and cake available...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/09/2011 11:30

... also hot buutered toast and honey.

Thumbwitch · 17/09/2011 12:28

G'day all!
Had a grand day today - went to the Highland Games! Saw that a MN friend on FB was going so looked it up and went too! Brilliant fun. Supposed to be a Celtic Festival, and there was some minor input from other nationalities but it was primarily a Scottish thing - the Highland Games as mentioned, lots of Pipe and Drum marching bands, Scottish dancing displays, haggis innabun and kilts in abundance! Such fun. And lovely weather too.
Then we went to the beach and had icecream and a paddle (miniThumb ended up starkers as everything got progressively wetter Shock). I mentioned to MrThumb that now the weather is warming up, it's time to have a towel permanently in the car, just in case.Grin
The only sad thing was getting home and realising that the MNer had left me a FB message with her mobile number, and I hadn't got it in time, or I could have met up with her and her family as well. Still - got it now, will be able to do it another time :).

PKM - your DD sounds like a standard issue teenager, sorry! As amber says - you can't do right for doing wrong at the mo. Fear not, it will all right itself in a few years, promise. :)

MT - yes, what did the teacher say about that girl?

Scout - hope MrScout managed to get home ok!

Amber - how are you doing, lovey? All well in amber-world? Have more Brew anyway, just to be on the safe side.

purpleknittingmum · 17/09/2011 12:37

We have been at the stage of always in the wrong for years with our daughter.......she just won't take any responsibility for anything she says or does. I was never like that when I was her age!

I will have to read back to see what the story is with MT and the girl and the teacher....! Just going to tuck into bacon rolls for dinner....also grabs some of the cake and toast that is going! Yum!
