Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

went and measured Oxboy's feet for new school shoes. He was most miffed that he had not grown bigger feet so doesn't need any! Lady was sweet about it and I was deilghted!

Scout19075 · 02/08/2011 21:07

TS had another "first" this evening -- first projectile vomit. He got MrScout, me, himself, the bed sheets, blanket, duvet and pile of washing. Oh, and the towel I tried to catch it with (still had the towel with me since had had a bath minutes before). Got him all hosed down and he decided to poo in the tub so had to start again. Three baths in 30 minutes!

There's no way our smaller than a matchbox washer/dryer could have coped with all of that tonight so once TS was settled I went up to the laundromat to do it all at once. MrScout's just gone for pizza for us since I didn't get dinner made and afterwards there's a tub clean.

BLURGH!

Steeplearningcurve · 02/08/2011 21:18

Scout- that sounds like the bathtime from hell! Hope you are having chance to relax now. DD was sick on her playmat this evening, trying to decide if I can machine wash it.

Apart from that it's been an uneventful day, going on holiday on Friday so I've been trying to start on sorting stuff to pack, so much stuff!

beanandspud · 02/08/2011 21:46

Oh Scout, that's sounds awful - enjoy your pizza and have a Wine.

Steep - in our house you can machine wash pretty much anything! We still have a teddy known as "sicky bear" since he always seemed to be in the firing line.

Tearoom meetup at Legoland sounds like fun Mary BS. Just out of interest are there any Tearoom ladies "up north"?

purpleknittingmum · 02/08/2011 21:58

Oh dear Scout, hope he is better soon! xx

Steeplearningcurve · 02/08/2011 22:01

Beanandspud- feel sorry for 'sicky bear'. Smile I'm in the west midlands so not really 'up north', though some people seem to think it is!

Scout19075 · 02/08/2011 22:18

I'm in East Anglia.

Last I looked in, TS was asleep in a "Jesus on the Cross" pose, complete with slightly bent knees leaning over in an angle.

Had pizza and an ice cream. Now trying to gather the energy to clean the bath. Now that I've sat down I don't want to get up.

Fortunately Bunny, who would normally be with us during dressing-for-bed/milk/cuddles, was in TS's bed. However, he did have his paci in when it started and he wanted it back even as he was starting to vomit again. Blurgh.

TS's vomitting got me out of airing (canvas) tents tomorrow -- YAY!

Thumbwitch · 02/08/2011 23:03

oh Scout! that does sound rough, hope he's ok and it was a one-off rather than a tummybug.

Steep - hope yours is the same, a one-off - are you going somewhere nice on holiday?

Beanandspud - that's a very unlucky bear!

I am so very grateful that miniThumb is hardly ever sick, I have reflex vomiting ishoos so it's very difficult for me to deal with. But so far, he's only done it twice (he's 3.8) so I've been extremely lucky.

Catita - woohoo!! getting very close now, you must be excited?

Oxeye, you know of course that Oxboy's feet will now miraculously grow over night sometime just after school starts, when you think you've got away with it Grin

PKM - hurrah! can she not buy her own stationery? Save you a job?
One of my favourite things was getting new workbooks at school, and getting new stationery at university - I loved getting a new 200 page Oxford pad at the start of the term! [stationery addict emoticon]

UniS · 02/08/2011 23:04

um, that book, should have said "fire and hemlock" sorry... Just starting on "the Merlin Conspiracy" now ( also a birthday pressie) .
Lego land, think I will be waiting till boy has a school inset day that doesn't coincide with Surrey school inset days before we do legoland again. It was fun, but not at all crowded in term time and we got to stay on some rides and ride them 2 or 3 times .

Todays holiday outing on a warm day was to an outdoor (un heated) swim pool. Glad I had DHs wet suit, as Boy is a non swimmer I don't get to stay warm by swimming...

Ohh look - Bishops in Speedos... wonder if they are going for a midnight dip?

purpleknittingmum · 02/08/2011 23:21

Oh yeah, she will get her own but it is on the list of stuff needed. I too love looking at stationery, always have done, as a teen I used to collect fancy erasers! Had to get the full set of them if they were different coloured ice-creams or whatever. For some reason my dad has my whole collection!

Scout19075 · 03/08/2011 07:50

Fingers crossed it was a one-off. TS slept the night through and is now chipper and bright. In fact, he was chipper last night once he got whatever out of his tummy. Room still smells a little funny so have the windows wide open and might invest in a bit of fabreeze for the carpet (just in case). Didn't scrub the bath in the end -- the door to the bathroom and the one to TS's room open into the hall at a right angle to each other and the sound of the running tap on the tub made TS stir (hadn't pulled the door too as it was too hot). I decided it wasn't in the best interest of TS or me to scrub last night. Did manage to hose it down, though.

Not sure I really want to face today. Going to have a slow one, I think.

Scout19075 · 03/08/2011 10:53

Happy toddler who had a shower (a good, proper scrub!) and is now playing with his daddy's tripod (see pictures on my other place for some giggles at him trying to video his girlies). Don't think he's 100% but I don't think he's going to be sick all over me again.

mistlethrush · 03/08/2011 11:02

Scout glad things seem to be back to normal. MC has a great way of bouncing back normally - especially after car sickness - which is a good job when I turn up late at school wtih him after an episode (or have to Blush say that the front step needs washing down before everyone treads sick into school). The only time he didn't he was REALLY ill - border line admitted to hosp - only stayed out as Dr who goes to same church came round to see him before clinic, called at lunchtime to check on progress - and came round again in the evening - having given me very good advice first thing which helped me get some liquid into him that didn't bounce - so we started back on the road to recovery. Towels are very useful though - we basically sat on the sofa with a pile of clean towels beside us and worked our way through - at least it meant that he didn't have to be changed every 10mins....

Bean I'm sort of north - although when you're here it doesn't really feel like it. Anything I can help with?

I'm hoping MC won't need new shoes for the autumn term at least - as he had new ones for the summer term. He's got size 1 feet now Confused and he's only 6!!!

Was greeted by very happy MC after sports camp yesterday - if he swims as well today as yesterday, he will be going up a group in the swimming (into 'yellow!!!') - means he was doing proper back stroke with no float!!! I've managed to get him to swim on his front fairly effectively but he's somehow struggled with on his back - always hated it - so I've not pushed it. UniS - if we were nearer the sea I would get a wetsuit I think - MC comes out all beautifully warm after a day splashing in the UK waters in not particularly warm weather - would make swimming so much less Shock

mistlethrush · 03/08/2011 14:58

chilled soup available today with gently warm fresh rolls....

Steeplearningcurve · 03/08/2011 15:28

Chilled soup sounds excellent! Just been to the gym and I'm now slowly melting in the heat...

mistlethrush · 03/08/2011 15:39

You've 'been to the gym????' I thought your dd (?) was only about 12 wks old!!! How ever did you get there? Grin

Thumbwitch · 03/08/2011 15:47

"beeeeen to the gyymmmmm" - no, sorry, not getting that. Does not compute. Grin

I was going to start Zumba but my osteopath forbad it. Hey ho. I'm still trying to give up chocolate and failing dismally. Roll on summer when I can start swimming again (oo, it's less than a month to go now before our local pool opens again and I can get back to my "training")

Will pass on the chilled soup as tis nearly bedtime here but will have a glass of lovely iced chocolate from the tray which Mellors has just placed on the side table... Cheers!

Scout19075 · 03/08/2011 15:58

What is this thing called "the gym" you speak of?

mistlethrush · 03/08/2011 16:12

{Scout - I fear it might be some sort of torture}{still don't know how anyone gets round to it that has children, let alone a baby}

Thumbwitch · 03/08/2011 16:18

mistle, can't answer for the one where Steep goes but most of the "Fitness centres" around us have a creche. I take miniThumb to a Fitness Centre for his Little Kickers football - he's just noticed the creche and asks to go in it after Little Kickers every week now Hmm.

Steeplearningcurve · 03/08/2011 16:19

It does feel like a form of torture sometimes ! but it's helping me to feel more like myself again.

Luckily it's only five minutes down the road so I can pop there when mum comes to see us.

I realise I sound crazy Smile

mistlethrush · 03/08/2011 16:21

No - anything to give yourself an hour or so on your own with your own thoughts is quite understandable at times Grin

Steeplearningcurve · 03/08/2011 16:28

Exactly! Once I get a swimsuit that fits I'll be able to sneak 10 minutes in the jacuzzi as a reward too.

Have an ulterior motive for getting in shape too- will be seeing dd's father (who has decided not to be involved) in a few weeks and want to look good just to spite him Blush

Scout19075 · 03/08/2011 16:33

TS definitely isn't right. Sad Poor toddler-boy.

Had to drop a couple of things off at the surgery today and was talking to the receptionist and called TS (who was not with me but home with MrScout) "my son." I realize this is not unusual or strange but it felt weird and exciting and I had one of those "I have a son!" moments. I think it felt weird because he wasn't with me.

Scout19075 · 03/08/2011 16:34

Don't think I've ever been to a gym in my life.
