Turkish Tearoom? Turkish Bath? Anyway, a Turkish delight awaits...

Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

I don't recall that we did anything remarkable - although we might have gone for a fish and chip tea - but Girl started in January when the options for after-school fun are fewer.

Scout19075 · 23/08/2011 22:36

Good night, Lovely Tea Room Ladies!

Scout19075 · 24/08/2011 08:33

Good morning, Lovely Tea Room Ladies!

YAY! MrScout's plane has landed and he's on his way to YOUT. We'll see him soon! Smile

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/08/2011 10:17

Yay Scout! I really fancy a trip to YOUT. I muct check my diary and see whether Girl and I can fit in an awayday during what's left of the holiday.

Thumbwitch · 24/08/2011 12:11

Hurrah for MrScout being back, no doubt with an enormous swagbag of USA goodies for you, Scout!

That earthquake is a bit of a worry, isn't it? One of my FB acquaintances (in a group I'm part of) was in it, it measured 5.9 in here area (VA) and although all the family is ok, the house is in a mess and she said her DS's crib moved 3 feet across the room. Scary.
I've only ever been in one earthquake (that I noticed) when I was in Italy, on the 10th floor of an apartment block - I couldn't think what was happening to start with! Thought I was imagining everything shaking... Blush

AandO · 24/08/2011 12:33

Hi guys! I have moved house so been very busy....got to go Grin, but I'll be back soon!

Tee2072 · 24/08/2011 15:53

Afternoon all.

Very busy day here doing lots of client work.

YAYA to Mr Scout!

Thumb I was in 2 earthquakes when I lived in California. One was a tremor. I was at work and said to the client 'can I call you back? We're having an earthquake.' The other I lived pretty much on top of the epicenter and that one was like this: BANG. It was very weird.

I hope your new house is lovely AandO!

Scout19075 · 24/08/2011 21:41

YAY for MrScout's Mary Poppins suitcase of treats.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/08/2011 23:30

Oooh, what's in the suitcase, Scout?

::Thinking fondly of the Tootsie Rolls::

Scout19075 · 25/08/2011 07:14

Well Maud, since you asked... when pushed for a shopping wishlist I asked for microwave popcorn (the variety here is limited and there's a flavor at home we're both fond of), some dum-dums (it's a type of lolli and I need them for some of my cupcake decorating), some pancake syrup (I can't seem to find any here and golden syrup isn't the same!) and some Teddy Grahams for TS (LOADS of grahams for him). He bought all AND some of my favorite flavors of baking chips (for Christmas cookies) AND some more Reeses Peanut Butter Cups even though I told him he didn't have to cuz he bought so many last time. He also bought me some Peanuts things and a card making magazine and some cake decorating stuff. He bought TS a whole pile of clothes/outfits, some of which are just too cute for words (very miniMrScout type of things like polos, rugbys, blue & white striped "dressy" shirts with rolled up sleeves). All in the right size, too. Wink He also got some Christmas presents for his family, a new baby gift for his Head Teacher (he's a governor and his Head just had a baby last week). Oh, and since he's working at the House of Mouse (shhhh, don't tell) and my mother's a HUGE fan of a not-so-popular character, he went to the Cast Members (only) shop and bought her some of her favorite character items (for Christmas) that we know she won't have.

And that's not including all the techy mags and geeky stuff he got for himself. He went with an empty case (sans a couple of shirts and his washkit) and returned with an orange "heavy" tag on it. He's a funny one, my MrScout.

No Tootsie Rolls this trip, Maud, but still have loads here if you want some. Oh, and Tootsie Pops. (Did I give you Tootsie Pops before?)

Anyone fancy some Teddy Grahams with Reeses for breakfast? Or something more traditional like thick fluffy pancakes with real syrup? Nom nom nom.

Scout19075 · 25/08/2011 07:23

I think MrScout missed his ToddlerScout very much. He seemed to light up at the sight of him at the YOUT train station yesterday. And he was telling me about all of the things he found for Toddler. Mom said she figured MrScout was missing him when I told her he emailed me and said he had gone shopping for him and bought presents. He bought him presents in Boston, too. This is a huge step for MrScout -- I didn't have to ask him, he just did it and brought home things that he thought/new TS would like (like books). MrScout kepting telling me yesterday that TS looks bigger/older/etc.

Sorry, having a mushy moment thinking about my boys together.

Scout19075 · 25/08/2011 07:28

We're off to the south coast today so will have some internet but I'm not sure how much/when. I plan on taking Toddler on the beach (he likes sand) and into the sea (we know how he loves the water!) as much as possible -- pray for good weather!

Tee2072 · 25/08/2011 08:15

Oh how lovely, Scout! Enjoy your trip and your goodies!

LCT and I are off on the bus to look at a house. Fingers crossed, the pictures look great! HUGE garden.

mistlethrush · 25/08/2011 09:43

Scout - a shortie wetsuit is well worth the investment for happy, warm, not burnt and not shivering child.

Tee - hope house lives up to pictures.

When DS is staying with my parents we email each other - and he types himself so the spellings are Grin Always makes me smile when I get one. We do speak on the phone too - if he's got time!!!!

Had a meeting on the east coast in a seaside town yesterday - traffic was bad getting there - driving at 2 mph at some of the time, just squeaked into meeting, left at about 5pm and traffic was horrendous coming home.

Anyone else in need of Brews?

Thumbwitch · 25/08/2011 12:20

Scout, MrScout done good! Wink

MT - if you'd said south coast I just know you would have meant Brighton - it used to tick me off enormously that it took me 45 minutes to reach Brighton and another hour to navigate through it to the place I needed to be!

Brew would be lovely thanks - had a trip into Sydney today to see my backcracker so am feeling a touch "worked over" now.

beanandspud · 25/08/2011 12:22

Brew yes please!

Scout - enjoy your goodies, your holiday, and more importantly enjoy having Mr Scout back home. I remember Mr Bean's first trip away post-Small Bean. Previously he would come home with treats for us but this time he arrived with small designer shorts and a t-shirt that must have cost $$$$. He was so proud of himself for getting the right size for his baby boy that I just didn't have the heart to comment on the price.

Tee - good luck with the house - fingers crossed this time!

MT - Boo to seaside traffic! Hope your day today gets better.

amberlight · 25/08/2011 13:01

Back from Mr Surgeon. He's v v pleased. Tiny operation not full 'goodbye Biscuit ' one. Oh phew!!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/08/2011 13:07

Oh, Amber. That is such good news for your and your Biscuit. Have a and a bucket of bubbly.

beanandspud · 25/08/2011 13:22

Fantastic news Amber!!!

tractor bunting

And a Brew for scary surgeon since he probably shouldn't have Wine at this time of the day.

mistlethrush · 25/08/2011 13:22

Great news Amber! Have they actually managed to track down where they should be looking? You might want to get DH to do a bit of instructional writing on the morning along the lines of 'not this one, you're looking in the wrong place!' or similar.... Grin

amberlight · 25/08/2011 13:34

Bunting with tractors on it!!! Wheeee! Grin

Well, MT, I was very slightly alarmed by his diagram wot he drew, which showed a big arrow pointing to the right hand Biscuit when in fact it's the left hand Biscuit he's aiming for. But I reckon if I take a big marker pen in with me on the day and draw an X where he's aiming for, all will be well Grin

mistlethrush · 25/08/2011 13:38

Ward round beforehand they come round with a marker pen. However, I'd still get DH to take matters into his own hands Wink and make sure that they don't get it wrong Grin

Tee2072 · 25/08/2011 13:39

Such lovely news Amber! X marks the spot for sure!

The house was nice...but had no bathtub! Shock Forget the fact that LCT is afraid of the shower, I need a bathtub. How else do you catch up with your reading?!?! It was nice other than that and would have been a yes. Oh well, maybe the next one...

amberlight · 25/08/2011 13:43

It was a bit of a comedy scene in there anyway today as Mr Surgeon didn't realise I'd had an MRI scan, went to get the results and seemingly got lost on the way back. Mrs Nurse had to go find him Grin
Anyone else slightly worried about the sense of direction of Mr Surgeon Hmm

Tee, no bath? I'd be delighted, but it seems a strange thing to leave out of a house, that's for sure....

Thumbwitch · 25/08/2011 13:48

Oh I am so very pleased for you amber! That's just the best news, I hope that it's all good from hereon in.

I couldn't stand not having a bath either - staying at MIL's house for 6w was hell on wheels without one. Thankfully we have a lovely old metal bath on claw feet now - I need my soak!
