Picture the scene...

From the edge of every terrace and every step hang brilliantly white stalactites, and you can hear the joyful splashing of the waters of the hot springs as they cascade down over slopes where their flow is impeded only by clumps of oleanders.

Nearby is an oasis of refreshments, in our Pamukkale residence, air conditioned and with white washed generously proportioned rooms, with Mellors at the ready, to offer Turkish Massage to anyone who wishes.

The NMBs are in their element, whereas the bishops seem to have found their speedoes again.

Priest's hole is at the back, in a quiet shaded area, stocked with What Car magazines, Turkish rugs and Turkish delight

I'm not sure how effective it is on older children so you might need to increase the dose. Good luck.

Scout19075 · 15/08/2011 22:54

When I looked at the To Do list I created when we got home this afternoon I seem to be able to tick off more than 75% of the list. How did that happen? And I did a few little jobs I didn't even put on the list.

UniS · 15/08/2011 22:59

Hurrah scout- I think 75% plus done counts as jobs finished. Here have a twiglet , it is most surprising.

stickwithit · 15/08/2011 23:10

Well done Scout!

Hope sleepy dust has worked it's magic on Young Donki.

I am really enjoying these twiglets. I had no idea how perfectly they go with Bolly.

Jacksmania · 15/08/2011 23:29

Hmm. Is it odd that my twiglets taste like cheesecake?

Scout19075 · 15/08/2011 23:35

Funny, JM, I was thinking mine taste like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Wink

Jacksmania · 15/08/2011 23:37

Twiglets of requirement, what could be better?

Jacksmania · 16/08/2011 00:04

Actually, my twiglets taste like BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear Scout!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

Happy Birthday Scout - hope it isn't marred too much by MrScout not being there. Just think of all the goodies he's picking up for you, and then you can have another birthday when he gets back! Grin

Scout19075 · 16/08/2011 06:49

It's never too early for cake in the tea room.

CheerfulYank · 16/08/2011 06:59

Happy Birthday, Scout :)

Happy Birthday, Scout!!

Scout19075 · 16/08/2011 08:25

Thanks Ladies!

Because it's a weekday and MrScout normally wouldn't get home until 8-ish we'd probably only have had a take-away pizza or something so I didn't have to cook. But he's away and it's just Toddler and I. We're going to soft play this afternoon with some new friends (I detest the term "mummy friends" since I have friends who have had kids long before I did and we're still friends but this group of friends, to be fair, I made since the birth of Toddler so they are still new friends) who don't realize it's my birthday. That's fine with me. Grin But I am taking the cake Toddler & I made to share with everyone. I am thinking that Toddler and I might need to go out for dinner after soft play before we come home so I don't have to cook anyway. Wink I have a list of errands and jobs I'd like to accomplish today.

Over the weekend I had presents from Parents-in-LawScout and MrScout. One of my SsiL gave me a present with strict instructions to wait until today to open it so I have that to look forward to. My best friend (who lives in the State where MrScout is currently) sent me flowers but had them arrive yesterday to cheer me up (knowing that's when MrScout was leaving).

So all in all, an ordinary (week)day in the Scout house.

Donki · 16/08/2011 12:20

Happy Birthday Scout

I'm sorry to report that the sleep dust seems to be ineffective in older (age >8) children.... it was past midnight, midnight, MIDNIGHT! when the YD finally slept. At least I assume he did - I was asleep, and he didn't wake me up.

(I had threatened him with loss of his new and much loved micro fleece blanket (from Alaska) if he didn't stay in bed quietly......)

(Note, I did not demand he sleep - he was as desperate to sleep as I was to have him sleep, it was outwith his control)

I then ruthlessly got him up at 7.30 am (was too soft hearted to yesterday or Sunday). He complained that he was too tired. Quelle suprise!

Here is hoping that tonight is better.....

stickwithit · 16/08/2011 15:19

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Bithday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Scout,
Happy Birthday to you.

Have you opened your present from your SIL yet?

Jacksmania · 16/08/2011 15:58

Happy birthday again Scout - sounds like a lovely day, or as lovely as it can be without MrScout.

I too want to know what the present from SIL was! :)

Scout19075 · 16/08/2011 19:57

Three hours THREE HOURS! at soft play this afternoon and Toddler's STILL awake up there!

mistlethrush · 16/08/2011 19:58

Happy Birthday!

Have had 'day off' from playing today (seems funny to have 'day off' when we've come specifically to do that - but avoids complete burn out and physical collapse!) and MC was 'borrowed' by Mother with 9yo - they went to a safari park together and apparently he behaved very well. OK, he did have a complete melt down with us shortly after our return - but it was shortlived and in private, so not bad. Much astonishment at MC's meal choices - extremely sensible even if I say so myslef - and I am having no hand in them (although I suggested that he tried the cottage pie, just a small bit - and he agreed..... and ate it all up).

So Dh and I had a rather nice, peaceful day with just the 2 of us - was rather nice sitting in companionable silence and coming up with the odd comment every now and then, rather than talking all the time....

I'm on MC duty now and DH is playing again... early night for me I think.

Scout19075 · 16/08/2011 20:42

Ooohhhhh and in a sweatshirt. My SiL is awesome!

CMOTdibbler · 16/08/2011 20:57

Fab sweatshirt Scout !

Scout19075 · 16/08/2011 21:33

Must admit the sweatshirt was on my "wishlist" so am very excited. Grin I've been coveting eyeing it for months. It is definitely a "me" sort of shirt.

UniS · 16/08/2011 21:43

Happy Birthday Scout.
Wishing you
Many happy sweatshirt wearing days.

beanandspud · 16/08/2011 22:12
