To pinch an intro from the very first one and only tea room thread. in 2009.

The tea room is now officially open, serving hot chocolate, tea, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of home-baked muffins. Tablecloths and crockery are charmingly mismatched antiques (no Cath Kidston here). We overlook an attractive although somewhat overgrown garden, with a distant view of rolling countryside.

Everyone is welcome but house rules dictate that anyone indulging in fisticuffs will be ejected.

Please come in.

We seem to have fetched up in Ireland, this place looks remarkably like a pub,There is even a guiness barrel over there. The NMBs are all sporting shamrocks. The mirror ball is here, but I leave teh rest of the unpacking to someone else.

Love Eton mess!

Tee2072 · 13/07/2011 17:43

I know what Eton Mess is...how do you make it a cake?

LCT had a grand morning running around the park with Mummy and Daddy as Daddy is still on holiday. Belfast riots far from here but still a bit frightening. I hate this time of year. Sad

What's MTB coaching?

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 13/07/2011 22:24

Have found nori, now just need to experiment. Grin

MN behaving very strangely this evening - findinf it very hard to get onto it.

mistlethrush · 14/07/2011 05:45

Yes MN 'threads I'm on' isn't working.... had to get here the hard way.

Eton mess cake - sitting on hands so don't ask for recipe.

Got up at 4 and started packing.... might not be around for a week, depends on the connection speed.

CMOTdibbler · 14/07/2011 05:55

Have a good time Mistle - hope you have a relaxing break !

Tee2072 · 14/07/2011 07:22

Morning all.

The lack of TIO is very annoying. If you watch a thread you can find it, though.

LCT off to nursery, me doing work, MrTee to start doing some of the clearing out we are planning.

We live such a glamorous life...

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 14/07/2011 09:01

Just found out that Wriggle and I might be free next Thursday (not 100% certain) and was wondering whether schools in other areas might have broken up by then and a meet up might be possible - Wilton House, Longleat, London (gasps at thought of entertaining Wriggle 2.5 hours on train without usual assistant, who won't be available). Can't pm anyone so not sure who might be watching. If Mistle is really going to Devon, wouldn't that involve driving very close to, for example, Cerne Abbas?

mistlethrush · 14/07/2011 10:56

Unserp we will be in Devon on Thursday next week. However, DH has arranged to meet up with a different axe wielding maniac person met on the internet (his friend this time Grin) who we met the year before last with his daughter (and wife). I'll pm you where we're going to be, just in case its doable for you on the Thursday... we will be driving back up home on the Friday just in case there's an option to run mistlechick and wriggle (and mistledog) at a mutually convenient location that day - would be good.

mistlethrush · 14/07/2011 10:57

OK, am not going to pm you as that doesn't appear to be working (like quite a few other things) on MN today. Hmm Will try again later or elsewhere.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 14/07/2011 14:08

Yes, lac of pm is not good.

UniS · 14/07/2011 14:24

Mistle- no PMs so have mailed your googlemail address from early last year.

MN is Very Broken.
It seems a touch odd that this has happened in the wake of the NOTW thing - perhaps one of their resident hackers has got into MN and tampered. I know I'm not the only one thinking this - there are threads about it. ONes that would be easier to find if MN were working properly, of course Hmm

Did any of you experience the name-swapping? I was, thankfully, asleep when that was all going on so missed it - but that's why the PMs are off-line for now, and Threads I'm On. Upsetting and not a little scary!

Had to take miniThumb to the doc this morning after a spectacular paroxysmal coughing fit last night - he now has antibiotics. The doc does not hand them out lightly, but she agreed his chest was affected again, same as it has been the last two times I have taken him with similar problem. He appears to have a weakness for chest infections .

Scout19075 · 14/07/2011 15:26

Name-swapping?

DontCallMeBaby · 14/07/2011 15:39

Am I still me?

Shall go looking for weirdness later (TIO working just fine at the mo).

Eton mess cake is a very moist (has ground almonds in) cake with strawberries in, plus some strawberries on top, and bits of meringue. There is cream in the mix, though you can't really detect it - you can have it with cream though if you want a more complete Eton mess experience.

Just got DD's 'welcome to year 3' letter home. Ulpl

mistlethrush · 14/07/2011 15:52

TIO is working again Hurrah!

Cake sounds very nice DCMB, if rather heavy on the cals.... Have to just partake in the tearoom I think.

ThumbsNoseAtSnapewitch · 14/07/2011 16:43

MN appears to be Officially Mended - hurrah!

Eton mess cake sounds divine - although Eton mess by itself is pretty fabulous, one of my favourite puds (the other being pavlova, spot the theme! Wink)

Scout - it's all over now, don't worry. Some people were having a problem posting, in that when they did, it was in someone else's posting name and they had access to someone else's Threads I'm On and PM box etc. It got very scary very quickly and MNHQ shut down the problem areas fast as you like to get it sorted out, which it now apparently is.

Jacksmania · 14/07/2011 20:33

Just wanted to pop in for two seconds and leave a bunch of ((((HUGS)))), will be back. :)

Jacksmania · 14/07/2011 20:36

Holy crap, I just read Thumb's summary of what the problem was that shut down TIO - wow. I can think of a few posters I'd have loved to impersonate...
-- can you see me posting as a certain poster who is most definitely not oversupplied with the milk of human kindness, writing things like "I just want to acknowledge to all and sundry that I have been a twat of the highest order..." :o

Scout19075 · 14/07/2011 20:49

Makes me glad I stick to a few threads and try not to cause any waves..... Wink

Donki · 14/07/2011 21:19

Hello everyone - gosh life on MN recently sounds interesting.
Mistle Have a good time away! I hope the weather is good.
Scout I think MTB is mountain biking (Am I right UniS?)

I am getting rather worn down by DS having tantrums at bedtime (or in the morning). He wasn't a big tantrummer as a toddler, and generally I think we coped with them well - and he hasn't had tantrums for ages. But these last few weeks he is winding himself up over small things and just completely losing it! I am trying to stay calm and find ways to manage the problem.

I am (mostly) managing the staying calm bit.....(I get lots of practice at work!), but trying to manage things to avoid triggers is not being very successful. Nor is asking the YD (once he has calmed down) being helpful. I have no idea why he is getting so upset/angry - I have tried asking the YD but without much response. (I also tried to explore how he was feeling, how the triggering event had made him feel, etc). I am also trying to get him to work out (with support) strategies for how to deal with things - again without great success. Distraction has also had little (but not no) success.

Aaaargh! Any suggestions?

CMOTdibbler · 14/07/2011 21:30

I'd guess YD is tired - have you tried getting him to bed earlier ? DS only ever breaks down when really over tired.

I get on a long plane ride later to come home ! And then only a week to go till our holiday - we are camping in Weymouth if anyone would like to meet up ?

UniS · 14/07/2011 21:56

yep- MTB = mountain bike.

He had a swim lesson tonight- VERY tired boy. Cricket, cycling and swim training in one week... next week it wil be cricket , Ballet and swimming.
