To pinch an intro from the very first one and only tea room thread. in 2009.

The tea room is now officially open, serving hot chocolate, tea, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of home-baked muffins. Tablecloths and crockery are charmingly mismatched antiques (no Cath Kidston here). We overlook an attractive although somewhat overgrown garden, with a distant view of rolling countryside.

Everyone is welcome but house rules dictate that anyone indulging in fisticuffs will be ejected.

Please come in.

We seem to have fetched up in Ireland, this place looks remarkably like a pub,There is even a guiness barrel over there. The NMBs are all sporting shamrocks. The mirror ball is here, but I leave teh rest of the unpacking to someone else.

It's okay Amber, I'm on my over time rate with them. Grin And they are being charged for every second!!!!!

Wine? Yes please!

amberlight · 01/07/2011 13:47

Haven't seen then anywhere, honest Grin

Tee, in that case, I'd be ensuring that your conversations are very very long indeed.

CMOTdibbler · 01/07/2011 13:55

What happens to scissors ? I have a set of good ones, a set of not so good, and yet all I can currently find are the nail scissors..

beanandspud · 01/07/2011 14:33

All I can find is a pair of poultry shears that would barely cut up a chicken nugget never mind a whole bird. Might not be very useful for Strawberry sign.

We had lots of scissors until they went in the dishwasher and all of the handles fell off.

Scout19075 · 01/07/2011 14:36

Oh, that would have been me, while I was at Guides/Seniors on Tuesdasy. Blush I do have a good/nice pair on my birthday wishlist. I used to have a wonderful pair of Fiskers but goodness knows what happened to them.

Catitainahatita · 01/07/2011 16:52

Hello you lot. I thought I'd let you know that I am home (and in the office now) after my trip. Due to a typo in the last text message I sent Mr. H just before takeoff, he thought my flight had been cancelled again, so he didn't come for me at the airport. There are no taxis, no buses so I was basically stranded. Mr. H arrived eventually and we have agreed to disagree on who was to blame for the mix up.

DontCallMeBaby · 01/07/2011 17:34

Weekend!

Tee2072 · 01/07/2011 17:50

I've got a new niece! Pimms for all!

She was born at 1330ish today at 7lbs 15 oz! Her granny noted that that was 2 ozs less than her uncle (MrTee) and therefore she was sure to be 6'2" like him! That's Granny logic that is!

amberlight · 01/07/2011 19:44

Tee, yay!!!

Cat, eek re travel situation....have a glass....quick....

FineLad is now on his way to the wild party. Wonder what unearthly hour he will emerge tomorrow....

DontCallMeBaby · 01/07/2011 19:56

Erm, sorry, let me dab you all down with this handy napkin (psst, NMBs, some help here, please).

Bonkers granny logic!

Donki · 01/07/2011 20:07

Hurrah for new niece!

Scout19075 · 01/07/2011 20:11

Welcome to the world, Tee's neice! (Assuming Mom and Baby are fine?)

I found myself suddenly broody earlier today. Came out of no where, it did. Then I "met" a woman at the Friday tots group with two who, from the looks of it, where under 18-20 months and thought "no thanks!"

TS, who still has very few "real" words picked up a duck in his bath and shouted "uck!" then started making it squeak. It took me a minute to realize what happened. We'll see if he can do it again for me to be convinced it's a new word for him.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 01/07/2011 20:19

Beanandspud, what do you teach?

Domestic godess, Hmm, could I do it .... tea on table, smell of freshly baked pyjamas, ironed cake on table .....)

Mistle, I think I taught MistleChick on Wednesday, when a took a class to visit the church. He was in y1, quite tall and handsome, with dark wavy hair, and he never stopped talking. Everything he said was correct and he had a phenomenal knowledge of church buildings and almost everything else ... I soon realised that the old lady volunteer wouldn't cope with him in her group, so I took him out to explore the graveyard and we found a crypt. We had a lovely time and he was a delight to teach talk to ... does that sound like MC?

Zoo visit was, from our point of view, a complete success. Wriggle enjoyed the kangaroos best (which we didn't see Hmm) and wants to repeat the experience next Tuesday.

Scout19075 · 01/07/2011 20:31

I forgot about the zoo visit until it was too late. Sad

Tee2072 · 01/07/2011 20:34

Mom and baby are fine, thanks! Pictures up and she is gorgeous!

beanandspud · 01/07/2011 20:45

Aaaahhhhhhh!

Thank goodness it's Friday night.... Cheers! Wine

Mr Bean is home so I am no longer a single parent. Small Bean is fast asleep and I have a glass of wine and a take-out curry in the oven. Bliss!!!

Another head bump for Small Bean at nursery requiring the emergency paramedic chap. No harm done, but another fright - am seriously considering sending him in his cycle helmet on Monday.

Unserp, I'm afraid that I don't teach and I have the greatest admiration for those of you who do. I would be a terrible teacher, not enough patience.

Zoo visit sounds great - I am just sorry that we were too far away to join you.

Congratulations Auntie Tee - lovely news!!!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 01/07/2011 21:00

Bean, I have been reading back to find out why I ever thought you are a teacher .... lack of sleep, I suspect.

RagingRabbit · 01/07/2011 21:05

Serpent, I concur, zoo visit was a very great success! Was so nice to have a RL meet up and we both really enjoyed ourselves, even tho RBoy was clearly pretty wiped out by the end of the day and in need of familiar surroundings. When asked what animals he saw, his first response has been "rabbits", every time! Grin so a RabbitBoy he clearly is. Bedtime reading last night and tonight was Dear Zoo, obviously!

Tee, congrats on new baby niece!

And Scout, great news about last injection (I'm a bit late, I know, but great news anyway!)

Catita, so glad you made it home finally, albeit with the pick-up mix-up with MrH.

Yikes for Small Bean - glad no harm done and that you've got your medicinal post-shock Wine, Bean.

AandO · 01/07/2011 22:13

Catita - What a nightmare! How long did you have to wait?

Tee - Congrats Smile

CMOT - 33 wives Grin. LittleO told me today that he is going to marry a man when he grows up and then the children will have two daddys. DH started talking about marriage currently not being legal and he'd have to d with a civil ceremony Hmm

Who went to the zoo meet up?

We actually had a warm day here today Shock. Dh is at home today so we went to the beach and ate a picnic in the dunes then went to the funfair (festival in next village). It was lovely!

RagingRabbit · 01/07/2011 22:56

Glad the weather turned and you made the most of it, AandO!

Twas just Serpent and Wriggle, and Wriggle's friend, and RBoy and I at the zoo in the end. So the group was small, but perfectly formed! Grin Oh, and Wriggle is sooooo cute! As I always knew she would be! Actually, the kids all got on pretty well, considering that they didn't know each other before (well, obviously Wriggle and her friend did, but ykwim), and one of the nicest things was seeing them all jumping around and playing together.

The consensus was we might as well just go to one of the city's big playgrounds for a future meet-up, as the zoo is so pricey and really, the small people just want to play more than anything. Easier for local tea roomers who can't make a day of it to swing by just for a coffee then, too.

Time to turn in.

G'night all.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/07/2011 22:58

I was so sorry to have missed it - I was overwhelmed with Stuff. I'll be at the next one, I hope.

Tee2072 · 02/07/2011 08:36

Morning all.

Was woken at 3am by the sounds of someone trying to use their key in our lock. Shock I was just about to wake MrTee (who slept right through it) when they realized they must have the wrong flat and gave up. Thank goodness it was locked and chained! Someone drunk, obviously. I was afraid they'd start banging on the door but apparently good sense finally prevailed.

Zoo meet up sounds like it was fun!

Once MrTee gets up for the day I am outta here, all by myself! Coffee, some shopping, lunch. Ah, bliss!

amberlight · 02/07/2011 08:43

6.30am phone call from FineLad to announce party had finished and would I trek out into the wilds of the countryside to locate him. One lad located. One cup of tea drunk. One bacon sandwich eaten. Might now have time to shower, put makeup on etc etc. You have all this to come, ladies...prepare thyselves!

mistlethrush · 02/07/2011 14:20

Unserp - yes, that's my boy. At reception they went round the nearby urban farm. MC started talking and apparently was answering the questions of the person that was showing them round before she'd had a chance to ask them. He's a bit like a sponge. He can apparently be completely ignoring you, off in his own little world but if you ask him something about what you said - a week or a month later - it will all start spilling out - its as though it overflows.

In my heart I know that he'd thrive on HE. It would be SO easy to do things that cover everything on a one to one basis with him. But I also know that I really couldn't do it with him, even if I could afford not to work. I would just get too frustrated with him when he's being difficult. I'm a lot more patient with him for the piano though.

Jacksmania · 02/07/2011 15:53

Good morning all. How is everyone?

We are probably going to take DS to see Cars 2 today. Don't know if I mentioned it yesterday but DH is home again so we're going to have a family weekend.

What's everyone else doing?
