To pinch an intro from the very first one and only tea room thread. in 2009.

The tea room is now officially open, serving hot chocolate, tea, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of home-baked muffins. Tablecloths and crockery are charmingly mismatched antiques (no Cath Kidston here). We overlook an attractive although somewhat overgrown garden, with a distant view of rolling countryside.

Everyone is welcome but house rules dictate that anyone indulging in fisticuffs will be ejected.

Please come in.

We seem to have fetched up in Ireland, this place looks remarkably like a pub,There is even a guiness barrel over there. The NMBs are all sporting shamrocks. The mirror ball is here, but I leave teh rest of the unpacking to someone else.

:( for CMOT and Catita.

Mistle, thank you for explaining. I don't know how I missed your story - I'm sorry. :(

Am at work (4:25 pm here) and my patient who scheduled this appointment (his first) six weeks ago is late. He rang from a phone box to say he was stuck in traffic. Hopefully I'll still have time to treat him before my next arrives or I'll be hopelessly backlogged. And Jack is at G-ma's, so I do have a deadline for picking him up... aaaaagh!! The thing is, I can't get angry at the patient, sh*t happens. I'm sure he's mortified. Well, I would be.

On the bright side, I've now had a little break.

Oh look, the NMBs are swarming over the bar... they're pouring wine in glasses... oh, they're bring a glass to each one of us! How nice of them!!! :o

Catitainahatita · 01/07/2011 00:58

Thanks for all the sympathy (and twiglets! Am currently weaving them into vests for the NMBs). I'm thinking about heading down to the bar just know and having a real whisky; but I'm not sure my finances can take the hit.
Sorry CMOT, I was wallowing in self pity and didn't register that you too had bad news. Have some virtual whisky and a twiglet vest.
Boo hoo on your patient JM. but good that he called. Do all your patients have such good manners?

CheerfulYank · 01/07/2011 04:38

Erm...what are twiglets? Blush And tiffin?

CheerfulYank · 01/07/2011 04:39

Or...I could just use google.

Jacksmania · 01/07/2011 05:07

By no means do all my patients have such good manners which is why I tend to be very lenient with those who do :)

Twiglets, as far as I can tell, are a type of snack. And tiffin I think is an expression for a mid-day snack?

Scout19075 · 01/07/2011 07:15

Twiglets, as my Senior Girl Scouts in Minnesota once told me, taste like burnt bark. How they even knew what burnt bark tastes like is beyond me! MrScout loves them (but he's English) and me, not so much. TS has tried them -- kept licking them, shuttering and going back to try again. He's never crunched one, though.

Tee2072 · 01/07/2011 07:32

Morning all.

Twilets are gross, is what they are. ::nods::

CMOT sorry to hear you are having problems. Good vibes coming your way.

Cat your way as well! What a pain!!

JM I hope your patient shows up. Nice that he rang.

Today is LCT's 2 year check with the HV. I am trying to decide if it is worth the effort to tidy LCT's toys or let her find us as we live...

amberlight · 01/07/2011 07:37

Scout, it's never too late to hand in a colouring page. Splendid example of one, if I may say so. Which of Mellors' fine massages can he tempt you with? I remember FineLad's many exploits on climbing equipment Shock

Donki, yes, 8yr old tantrums are indeed a bit of a challenge. Have a Brew

Mary, get those running shoes on! Grin

CMOT, two more consultants????!

MT, large Brew for you too...it's been a heck of a set of experiences for you. Eeek re report.

JM, hurrah for well mannered patients!

Tiffin is afternoon tea and cakes or any other light daytime meal, but also a reference to mid-afternoon frolicking (as per Carry On films)

Have got FineLad's fancy dress party costume for tonight's absolutely-the-last-ever-day-at-school event. That was an experience!

CMOTdibbler · 01/07/2011 08:21

Morning !

What is finelad going as Amber ? I have to make myself a princess costume today to accompany st george and the dragon at Sundays show.

tiffin can also be a word for that refrigerator choc cake with biscuit bits and dried fruit - that I never make as I will trough the lot

I need an elbow guru and someone to stab the muscle causing my little finger to contract up with botox (because it is non useful,, unsightly, and gets caught on things). Nothing I didn't know needed looking at, but a pain shopping around

amberlight · 01/07/2011 08:32

He's going as Herr Flick from the 'allo 'allo series Shock

Isn't there a sort of doctorsupermarket.com where people can find a recommended specialist? There ought to be. I can see a market opportunity...

mistlethrush · 01/07/2011 09:21

My message this morning was lost in the 'offline for 5 mins' - we seem to have been getting lots of those.

CMot - hope you find one soon - I'm surprised your existing consultant didn't recommend someone. And what's your princess outfit going to be? Does the Dragon tollerate his costume alright?

Amber - how's he going to do the limp? And have you managed to get a coat long enough? DH had a coat like that when we met. He also had cornish pasty shoes, wore trainers in the summer and didn't own any shorts. He bought a gautex quite soon - and after 2 double espressos was coaxed into buying two pairs of shorts for a holiday to Madiera - and ditched the trainers in exchange for walking sandals. He now is often in shorts from March - October Grin Oh - and the Cornish pasty shoes got a hole in but he didn't throw them away for a year, despite not wearing them, so I put them in the dustbin - 6 months later he asked where they were... [evil grin]

I like Twiglets. But I've not seen Racingpig around making nests with them recently - did he get left in one of the old tearooms and has he caught up yet? Although I have seen that the NMBs are still using them for construction purposes - they do make quite good ladder rungs between drinking straws.

mistlethrush · 01/07/2011 09:22

THen I had a compatibility view problem.

I forgot to add in that my post earlier that was lost also hopes that Catita gets a flight home safely and soon. Budget hotels near airports are never good - but I imagine those in Mexico City probably take the biscuit.

amberlight · 01/07/2011 09:41

MT, after his broken-foot problems for a year, I reckon he can do a very good limp Grin The coat is indeed long enough, but suspect that it won't get worn for long at the party, given the usual goings-on

Amber - at what age was FineLad when you started having Confused feelings when he was off out with 'friends' ? I'm hoping I've got a fair few years yet before I need to start worrying - but with all the talk of marriage that seems to go on in his classroom, I'm not too sure.

amberlight · 01/07/2011 09:57

Interesting question...he started turning into a complete thug in Yr 8 whilst at his previous school (and thanks to their attitude that they didn't want him anyway and weren't going to make it possible for him to do the work)...but whipping him smartly away from that fine establishment into his current one resolved that entirely. We didn't really have major partying challenges until yr 11, so I think you have plenty of time yet.

mistlethrush · 01/07/2011 10:37

That's another message lost in the ether Hmm

Glad to hear I've got a few more years without having to worry about that.

How are you feeling today Amber? Brew ?

CMOTdibbler · 01/07/2011 11:04

Glad to hear its not just Tiddler talking about marriage - apparently he will have 33 wives, 5 of whom are picked out already Hmm

DH wore a long black trench coat before we were together, but I was quite fond of that coat.

Due to the weirdness of my arm, these are things surgeon never normally has to send people off for. Have identifed an elbow bloke nearby fortunatly.

Dragon didn't bat an eyelid at being dressed up - am just going to make some better wings for him whilst the spray paint on my hat dries. Am rather enjoying the creative outlet

Anyone fancy a raspberry and white choc muffin ? Will make a batch in rl later.

amberlight · 01/07/2011 11:27

I feel alrightish thanks. Trying to avoid thinking about next Tuesday's chemistry experiment, but at least there's only one more after that.

Yup, I'd love a muffin please CMOT. 33 wives sounds like a lot to me Shock

beanandspud · 01/07/2011 11:33

All this talk of cakes and tiffin is making me want to do some baking instead of writing work reports! Mr Bean is now on his way home after a week away - hurrah!! Maybe I should make more of an effort to be a domestic goddess when he gets back (tea on table, smell of freshly baked cake, pyjamas ironed.....)

Grin at Tidder's 33 wives. Small Bean is going through a phase where girls are not his friends. And only boys who like trains are his friends. The subject is not open to debate (apparently).

Amber - hope that FineLad has a good evening. Fortunately we have a good few years before teenage parties - the toddler ones are bad enough!

Just for the record I love twiglets - what's not to like?

Tee2072 · 01/07/2011 12:40

HV been and gone, no worries. Although she was surprised he couldn't identify a banana until I told her he loathes them!! Grin

How many wives?!? Shock Wink

It's suppose to be my day off and I'm checking emails and taking calls for my idiot client with the emergency. Shoot me now. Or just pour me a very early Wine?

amberlight · 01/07/2011 12:43

Step away from that phone, Tee!! Shock

Have a Wine

beanandspud · 01/07/2011 12:58

Very early Wine.

And Pimms for anyone watching Wimbledon whilst pretending to be working.

Scout19075 · 01/07/2011 13:07

Right, who walked off with my craft scissors? I need to make the Strawberry Evening sign.....
