The One and Only Tea Room - Now Hanging in Babylon

Well folks, here we are, transported through time and space to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Golden couches and the distressed chintz sofa are arranged on a terrace overlooking the Euphrates and, as we recline on the exquisitely-soft cushions eating peeled grapes, we can enjoy the warm fragrance of the gardens' many exotic blooms. The garden is tended by the indefatigable Mellors, with occasional help from the bishops, rabbis and any passing world leaders. Somewhere behind the terrace there is an aga and a priest's hole, with optional massage table.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly.

Thanks for the disco, ladies - enjoying it all and loving the Bangles and Go-Gos especially, sort of what girl power looked like before the Spice Girls.

Scout, has that Black Eyed Peas song really been around that long? I didn't register it at all till last year. Also have fond memories of dancing the night away with RBoy at a party last summer, that song included - he kept going till gone midnight, that boy has stamina...

Hope you went for the wine, Donki. Talking of stamina. Ouch! Have some of my carrots too.

And Unis - my sincerest sympathies. Good luck. And Wine. We narrowly missed MIL coming last weekend as she got ill, unfortunately - not that I would wish that on her of course, and I had some consoling to do with RBoy, but I have to admit to breathing a sigh of relief, and we had such a lovely weekend just the three of us in the end. Oops, sorry Unis, talk about rubbing it in! Blush More Wine I think (although not for me, obviously)!

Maud, I have often thought that about Jazzie Jeff too, with a degree of embarrassment at having been the one to really hammer the point home to her. Meant it in the nicest, most complimentary way, of course - but not sure it was interpreted that way!

to the evening's entertainment, if anyone's still got any shapes to throw - unfittingly discordant for the time of night but what the heck. You know you're getting really old when the Jesus and Mary Chain start to look this young.

G'night.

Dares not admit having no clue who the JMC are

I must go to bed but have been staying up to hear Ian Dury and the Blockheads performing on an ancient Old Grey Whistle Test.

Good night!

Tee, I'm guessing it would be good for them to offer a flat in which there is room to swing a proverbial cat?
Good luck to those wrestling relatives...

Tee2072 · 04/06/2011 08:45

It actually wasn't that small, amber. Just no storage. None. I said to Mr Tee last night 'where would you even store your hoover in that place?!' So not even a small utility closet or airing cupboard. Very odd.

Brew?

amberlight · 04/06/2011 08:51

Not so much as a cupboard?! Weird.

Yes please to Brew. Want some cooked breakfast?

Tee2072 · 04/06/2011 08:52

Oh yes please! And a small boy who listens. That's what I would like this morning!

amberlight · 04/06/2011 09:09

Seem to be a bit short of small boys here to hand over. Could hand you a large rugby-players shaped FineLad who doesn't listen either?

::a plate of cooked breakfast of Exactly the Right Sort appears::

Anyone else?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/06/2011 11:27

Oooh, yes please.

ARGH, parents (of Guides).

Do you want to share, Scout, either on or off thread?

Scout19075 · 04/06/2011 16:22

Those biscuits and the lemonade hit the spot, Maud.

Just same-old, same-old, really. You tell them the same thing 15 times in 20 different ways, they nod and say "yes, I understand" then email you saying "I don't understand." ARGH!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/06/2011 16:26

How's your calorie intake, Scout?

Trying to do my daily schedule for camp. Because the girls are running camp (as opposed to leaders doing all the cooking, etc.) it feels like all we're doing is jobs and theme-related challenges when there's time. But they are 14/15 and big/bad/ugly enough to be in charge, do all the jobs, run everything.

Do you like dancing, Amber? Do you want to suggest a choon?

Am tip toeing back in. I have been absent again as I have not really come to terms with the one child thing. And being a regular here feels (to me) like I should
