The One and Only Tea Room - Now Hanging in Babylon

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/05/2011 23:57

Well folks, here we are, transported through time and space to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Golden couches and the distressed chintz sofa are arranged on a terrace overlooking the Euphrates and, as we recline on the exquisitely-soft cushions eating peeled grapes, we can enjoy the warm fragrance of the gardens' many exotic blooms. The garden is tended by the indefatigable Mellors, with occasional help from the bishops, rabbis and any passing world leaders. Somewhere behind the terrace there is an aga and a priest's hole, with optional massage table.

Please come and join us for a celebratory drink and conversation ranging from the profound to the profoundly silly.

Amber - zoo - yes!

teafortwo · 02/06/2011 18:10

We are going through a 'P'tang Yang Kipper Bang' fest...
I do really really LOVE it but not every night, Milk!

Milk loves Ducky's face... and the cricket references... and the music....and the spider Ducky accidently stands on ... so it seems this evening we are watching it AGAIN...

Oh lord, what did I start with the whole name change thing? Little did I imagine... anyway... the MNetter "littlelapin" and I are not remotely related but I started referring to DS, who once was SBoy (ie SecretBoy, when I had a Secret in my name) as "LittleLapin" when I changed and had no secret in my name any more, but wanted to keep a connection with the previous name, which had a Lapin in it... agh, is anyone following this? Anyway, then littlelapin (lower case) who is an entirely distinct and discrete entity, and who I don't think has posted on here before (unlike me, who has posted quite often) noticed the name I'd endowed DS with and popped in to say hello. And that's it. I think.

Have I explained to everyone's satisfaction? Or anyone's?

Anyway, hello littlelapin and may I also compliment you on your very fine username? Smile

And I'm also in for the zoo on July 1st. I'll be the one wearing the bunny mask and eating carrots (that's if Donki doesn't manage to wrest them all away from me.) I will have a small boy with me who may or may not answer to a name with some form of rabbit or its French equivalent in the title.

Phew.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/06/2011 22:43

Hello all. We've just got back from our .

Tea - If I can get away from work, I'll certainly be at the zoo. Like Candace-Marie, I want to see the zoo.

I think I met LittleLapin years ago on a thread for compulsive buyers of stationery (I can never resist a good pen). ::waves::

::collapses on distressed chintz sofa, dropping billy cans as she does::

evening all. IIRC Little lapin did pop in and out of teh tea room several incarnations ago. No harm done and now we can conect RR to her past persona, Thank you RR.

Zoo- not for I, too far even tho it is a non pupil day. We have teh village fete the following day and I'm somewhat committed on that.

DH has admitted he has 28 days leave remaining to take before Oct!!! even with carry over thats still 18 to use. I have suggested painting the house.. he wasn;t very keen.

Scout19075 · 02/06/2011 23:03

YAY for the zoo! As long as my (LAST!) hospital appointment is the following week, which I anticipate it will be but will find out for sure next week, TS and I can probably be there. I've never been there. Will need to work out how to get there (after I find out where it is). Tea, does this mean you'll be in Scoutshire soon?

Took TS to the park today. Little boy shorter than TS but clearly older than him started rubbing his curls in an "awwww" sort of way while they were climbing the steps of one of the climbing frames. Made me giggle. TS got very possessive of his ball after I told the little boy he could play with it while TS was swinging. He never snatched it back, but he followed the boy around whenever he had it. I've never seen him possessive over toys before with other children. I wonder if it's because at groups they're not his toys while the ball was his, he knew it was his and he knew we took it so he could play with it.

Massive headache -- just came online to check my email so off to bed. G'night!

I am black and blue down my legs, and completely knackered after Donki's Sister took me and the YD mountain biking....... for hours.
I think that she has infected the YD with a new passion.
('Cos I know who will end up taking the YD places, and it won't be DH....)

amberlight · 03/06/2011 07:23

Hours of mountain biking? Oh my! Do have a top up of your hay pile...

Nearly the weekend. So nearly...

Tee2072 · 03/06/2011 07:48

Hours of mountain biking? I would be dead! You are a better woman than I, donki!

Gorgeous day here. Off to view what looks like a spectacular flat. ::fingers crossed::

And then to the park!

Brew?

amberlight · 03/06/2011 07:58

I did 15 minutes of heavy gardening yesterday when I got home? Then collapsed puffing in a heap on the sofa. That's 15 mins more than I could have managed a couple of days ago. Does that count? Grin

You know on 'A Hard Days Night' how everyone stops to look at Paul's Grandad and says "Isn't he a clean old man?"

Well my Dad is a very clean and healthy 'getting towards but not yet old man'... but he is sort of at that age where everyone comments on how healthy he is given his age though and he is very proud of his vigour (I dread to think what he will be like at 80 - I feel my Dad will get old Calafornian style with a bit of Rolling Stones thrown in!!!).

Anyway - When he went mountain biking with my brother-in-law my Dad chose a too hard course for my brother-in-law, left him behind (nice!) and my poor brother-in-law returned with a broken rib having fallen a bit down a rocky hill which (said in a blokey voice) was "really bad luck". This story has scared me lots and lots. So I plan to do all of my cycling on roads and only the sturdiest of bridle paths from now on. Grin

ANYHOOO....

We are off to The Louvre to look at the Egyptian exhibition.

Way oh way oooooh!!!! Grin

CMOTdibbler · 03/06/2011 21:12

2 glasses of wine. Deffo. With a carrot twist.

purpleknittingmum · 03/06/2011 21:14

Evening all!

Scout19075 · 03/06/2011 21:19

Watching Saving Private Ryan since MrScout won't be home until very late. I always get emotional watching this but the teenage boys crying for their mothers has set me off.

beanandspud · 03/06/2011 21:22

Good evening!

UniS · 03/06/2011 21:35

thans for hip flask. Wine is also helping.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/06/2011 21:40

Eeek. I am far too squeamish to watch Saving Private Ryan ago.

::worries that we frightened off JazzyJeff by telling her that we were (mostly) old enough to be her mum::

Evenin' all. I'm off to bed soon but thought I'd have some Wine first.

Aggravated with Estate Agents this week. At least the one who didn't show up today sent me an email apologizing. Hopefully will see that flat next week. The flat we saw today was horrid with no storage space at all. Cross it off the list and move on...

Have a nice disco!

Scout19075 · 03/06/2011 21:51

I saw it in the cinema. I went on my own and couldn't eat until the next day. I was the youngest by two generations in the viewing and I blubbed like a baby at the end watching all of the WWII vets bawling. I cried during the movie, too, but watching all of these brave old men break down pulled at my heart.

I've had to turn it off -- commericals driving me nuts. I have the DVD if I want to watch it.

Scout19075 · 03/06/2011 21:59

I want to be number 500!

Scout19075 · 03/06/2011 22:00

WAHOO!!! Grin
