Tea Room The 24th - San Francisco Painted Lady!

Tee2072 · 08/03/2011 14:15

Welcome to the 24th incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not that you only have to have one! Just so long as you enjoy chat, tea, coffee, cake!!

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or Brew.

Our ongoing voyage take us to one of San Francisco's Painted Ladies!

We've brought the Aga over, it's in the back in the cosy kitchen overlooking the back garden. The chintz sofa is in the front room, under the bow window! All of the pillows and duvets have come along as well!

What's that? The Priest Hole? It's just over there --> behind the bookcase!

Mellors is upstairs, preparing the bedrooms for naps and such. Wink

The aspidistras are thriving as they overlook Nob Hill! The horses have found themselves stabled in the Garden, which is much larger than these places usually are in this city!

So come in and have a seat!

Cheers.

On a positive, going to the doctor tomorrow to try to get my six-week old cough cleared and have her look at my four-week old injured ribcage (thanks to ToddlerScout). I now can't cough/sneeze/move/pick up TS without sharp pain and/or wheezing.

Oh, and Maud, my girlies want to do that challenge because they like the looks of the Rainbow & Brownie activities so we'll be using your activity in two weeks. Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/03/2011 23:37

::preens::

::worries that they'll think it's a bit lame as it was intended for 7 year olds::

Scout19075 · 16/03/2011 23:50

Don't worry. They said "Let's to the royal badge next so we can make crowns!" They have the mental age of five sometimes. Grin

Have just spent WAAAAYYYYY too many USDs.

oxeye · 17/03/2011 00:18

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/03/2011 00:39

::COTHAB::

Do what she does in I Don't Know How She Does It - buy from M&S and then distress them a little bit with the rolling pin.

Night!

Tee2072 · 17/03/2011 07:33

Moring! Green tea, green bagels and green muffins on the sideboard, Happy St Paddy's!

I was also gong to suggest store bought cake.

Sending off to daycare and then time to spring clean!

I second Maud's suggestion. No-one will have a clue. Works for me.

::proffers Brew for all in need, which includes me::

CMOTdibbler · 17/03/2011 08:16

No need to distress the bought cakes at all Oxeye - at cake sales at ds's school there are always a number of bought fairy cakes and no one worries. The kids buy them just the same.

If you feel like it, drop into Sainsburys, buy one of those tubs of tiny fairy cakes (uniced) and a tub of Betty Crocker icing and a bag of M&Ms. You can ice them all in a few minutes, and they'll sell really well

MaryBS · 17/03/2011 08:23

I've bought un-iced cakes and put melted chocolate on. They've always sold well!

Maud - BEUILLLER-FUL, babe!

Mary - that is a FAB idea. I would never know! I thought - What about going to a bakery and picking up something rustic looking. My Mum and Dad's local bakery is very rustic homemade looking I am sure it is drawn upon very heavily for cake sales.... Wink

Talking about bakeries (nice link)

CMOT and anyone-else who is in the know come and tell me about your buns over here...

Oxeye - What with me having a bit too much time right now and you not having enough it really is a shame we don't live nearer I would have done a double batch and popped some over the fence!

Scout19075 · 17/03/2011 18:48

Doctor gave me medicine for my cough (have had it six weeks, really should have gone before) and good drugs for what she suspects is a slight crack in one of my ribs. Nice. Thanks TS!

Llanarth · 17/03/2011 18:52

Hello

I'm new, invited over from a thread I started on only DS's - a thread that has turned into a wonderful love-fest of all that is good about those wonderful creatures made out of slugs and snails.

Not sure how to introduce myself, or what things you'll want to know!? The basics are that I have a wee boy, just turned 3, a wonderful (usually) DH and two dogs. I work from home selling my children's product, bigbooklittlebookcardboardbox.

oh, and I don't really like tea or coffee so I'll be working under the illusion that Brew always refers to a nice mug of hot chocolate, or hot lemon squash (had that for the first time in years the other day, and found I rather liked it).

UniS · 17/03/2011 18:58

hello Llan welcome to the tea room. fill your mug with whatever takes your fancy.

Jacksmania · 17/03/2011 19:11

Hello llan, when was your little one's birthday? Mine just turned three on Feb 13. Welcome!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/03/2011 19:17

Hello Llanarth. Welcome. Even those of us with daughters quite like boys, y'know. Some of us even married one. ::wink::

Have a Brew and a Biscuit. As this is the tea room of requirement, they always taste just as you want them to.

CMOTdibbler · 17/03/2011 20:04

Hi Llanarth - as promised, heres a Brew - hot choc, squirty cream, mini marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles wasn't it ?

oxeye · 17/03/2011 20:51

Hi Llan! Welcome indeed. I have a gorgeous oxboy ds who is 4 1/2 and a cake sale for tomorrow. Thanks for feedback guys. Of course why not buy? Shame is no shops seen today But I decided to make Rocky Road cos it takes about ten mins and then sits in fridge. So that's good

tea love idea of you popping cakes over the fence Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/03/2011 20:52

::gets high speed cab round to OxTowers to sample the Rocky Road::

oxeye · 17/03/2011 20:54

Ha maud I was thinking you're my nearest garden fence! I'd better crack on and get making if you're coming over!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/03/2011 20:58

::throws Girl into bed, applies lippy and rings Cabs R Us::
