Tea Room the 23rd - The Canadian Rockies

Welcome to the 23rd incarnation of the One-Child Tea Room. Not to be misleading - although its inmates inhabitants mostly have just one child, we also have mums of many (but no dads yet... hmmm...). Everyone is welcome.

The usual rules apply - no bunfighting. If you like that sort of thing, go elsewhere.
Other rules: bring Wine. Or [tea]. :o

We find ourselves in a lovely spacious log cabin in the Canadian Rockies. Enormous west-facing windows show a gorgeous view of the sunset over the mountains, and there are log and/or gas fireplaces in every room, even the priest hole (which is a Hiding Spot of Requirement for Those In Need) and the bathrooms. In the open-concept living room, we find the Aga gently simmering against the wall, the bar fully stocked, and the cappuccino bar prepared to dispense any hot beverage of your choice.

Fluffy duvets and colourful pillows abound on the deep, squashy couches and armchairs. Outside, we see a vista of deep snow, dotted here and there with deer and bunny tracks. The walking trails and access roads have been ploughed clear of snow by our able (and hunky) handyman, Mellors, who is also available for massages and facial treatments in the Log Cabin Spa.
There is a hot tub outside on the west-facing deck, with a mini-bar conveniently nearby.

There are no aspidistras in this log cabin, as the cold of the Rockies causes them to shrivel and die. However, the Naked Mohawk Babies have come along and are swarming along the rafters, and in the adjacent stable, the Tea Room horses, Earl and Lady Grey are available for snowy rides. The bison are frolicking in their snowy paddock, and I have no idea if the bishops followed the trail of breadcrumbs or not.

(For newcomers, the last paragraphs obv. makes no sense - just go with, all will be explained.)

Yes. Yes. And yes. I've been to the last two and MrScout has been to all of them. (This is where MrScout and I met way back when.)

You should! GardenGirl will be a Guide by then, right? If her own unit doesn't go I'm sure another unit might be willing to take her in.

Tis very fun!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/02/2011 19:25

Ah. I wonderd whether this was where you found your MrScout.

I doubt that our Guide unit will go - they tend only to go to PGL-type places - but there is another unit nearby who are much more sport-y and camp-y who I guess might go.

Who organises it? Is it a national/regional thing? GardenGirl and I have just watched some of the highlights and she says it looks great, but she doesn't want to go without her friends. Anyway, it's a long way off, so keep me posted ...

Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 20:18

Remind me and I'll send you details and info on how it's been set up/run. Really is good fun for both the kids and the adults. Bloody hard work, too, depending on your position, but brilliant. Even being pregnant and that being my third week in a row camping I wouldn't have changed it for anything.

. Yes, you really should.
CMOTdibbler · 19/02/2011 20:26

If you are going to be singing again, I'll have to go and get my blanket out of the wardrobe. I miss Guiding

Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 20:30

Oh, come back to the fold CMOT!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/02/2011 20:50

CMOT - Let's all go and help Scout at Wings 2014!

Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 20:52

Oh! I was going to get some GSUSA Centerary Badges -- would any current and former Guides like one?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/02/2011 20:55

I'd love one!

CMOTdibbler · 19/02/2011 20:55

I had to stop as my previous job was just not compatible with any fixed time commitment, and this one is totally incompatible. Tis a pity

Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 20:58

To be fair that's why MrScout had to stop, CMOT. You could be an occassional helper -- I got a friend of mine doing that and she comes to help at nights away and MrScout is an OH with my unit and he teaches certain skills and goes camping with us.

Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 20:58

Oh, Maud, I have your other badges. Let me know when you want me to send them.

Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 21:08

Sorry!

Anyone for a snack?

Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 21:27

Does anyone know what the heck MrScout is doing with all of our computers and our tv/media center?

Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 21:30
Scout19075 · 19/02/2011 21:51

Seriously considering an early night. How sad is that?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/02/2011 21:56

Something very clever probably, Scout!

Tee2072 · 20/02/2011 06:06

::tiptoes around sleeping Guide bodies and puts the percolator and kettle on the aga. Helps Mellors with placing the freshly baked American Biscuits, scones and muffins on attractive serving dishes::

I've been up half the night with a coughing LCT. Again. Our out of hours service is horrible, so will wait to tomorrow and see how he is and then take him our GP if necessary.

amberlight · 20/02/2011 08:21

::crawls out from under the table to reach for them::

Thanks, Tee!

teafortwo · 20/02/2011 10:46

Oh Tee! Sad

A feisty friend of mine took her dd to drs and said "Ya neeed to stop her from coughing because I CANNOT sleep..." Ha ha ha!!! I think it shocked the dr rather!

Tee2072 · 20/02/2011 11:59

Tea, he gets coughs like this quite a lot. Sometimes it turns out to be a chest infection. This time I think it is a slightly runny nose and too much spit from teething.
