Tea room 22- A Farmhouse kitchen, anyone for a cuppa?

UniS · 24/01/2011 14:47

Welcome to the 22nd incarnation of the tea room. This time we are watching for spring from a cosy farmhouse kitchen. There is an aga for baking virtual cakes and an inglenook with toasty fire and settles to rest weary bones on. The distressed chintz sofa and footstool have arrived safe and sound and the priest hole is around here somewhere. On the Window sill is an aspidistra its pot surrounded by a hand holding circle of nearly naked mohawk babies, they have placards and a brazier.

Outside in the surrounding fields can be found the tea room horses, Earl and Lady Grey, also a herd of bison AND a Ha Ha to keep the bishops from invading.

Usual rules apply, no fisticuffs, if you want an argument go else where. Mellors the butler / game keeper will supply all sorts of things on request. Welcome Mums of one, none or many to the tea room of requirement.

Scout, you really want to go to the guiders meal tomorrow, and it will be fine. The fear is far worse than the reality.

BoffinMum · 27/01/2011 21:51

We are also exploring why head teachers sometimes talk rubbish about the law as a way of putting parents in their place as school serfs.

MyrrhyBS · 27/01/2011 21:52

Scout, you don't have to go to the guiders meal tomorrow. You were guilt-tripped into it, and that in alone is a reason to back out. You've much better things to do anyway

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 27/01/2011 21:53

That sounds fascinating. I like a nice bit of psychology, me. By lexical leakage, do you mean calling things by the wrong name and other manglings of the language? I do that a lot when tired.

::Offers self for case study::

BoffinMum · 27/01/2011 21:54

It's giving themselves away by using particular pronouns. For example, if people are stressed they say 'I' a lot (what we on MN call a 'me, me, me' post).

purpleknittingmum · 27/01/2011 21:55

Ta!

She is just being a teen but we struggle, virtually every day there is an arguement of some sort. I KNOW I wasn't as moody as her at the same age (double checked with my mum!)

trying to get help in changing how we deal with her but nothing seems to be working

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 27/01/2011 21:59

Even more fascinating, BoffinMum. Have more cake and Bolly (although I guess it's hard to eat and drink while prone on the massage table).

Scout - These Guider meals are sometimes jolly but often grim. Surely you can have more fun at home? Some time soon I'll PM you to vent about my latest Guiding experience which falls short of BP ideals!

MyrrhyBS · 27/01/2011 21:59

When I am stressed, I say FUCK a lot. Fortunately, I manage to resist this when preaching from the poopit

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 27/01/2011 22:03

I am now hyperventilating at the idea of Mary as a female version of Father Jack.

BoffinMum · 27/01/2011 22:03

My DD was horrid from about 8 or 9 until 23. Very argumentative. Almost put me off parenting. With hindsight one of the problems was that she was like the dog on the best chair, her position in the pack was too high, and every time we asked her to do something around the house or whatever, she took it as a personal insult. That's not because we made it that way, it was because she was a stroppy puppy. I am still not sure what we could have done differently. It is very hard when teens are like this.

CMOTdibbler · 27/01/2011 22:14

Interesting Boffinmum - my mums main outward symptom of her dementia has been her loss of nouns. Which does make conversations interesting as now she doesn't have words for things, people or places.

purpleknittingmum · 27/01/2011 22:19

Thanks Boffinmum

She is an only child (I knew when she was 2 I didn't want more!) and we have been told that is perhaps part of the problem, she has no-one to moan about us to, only us

I know we are pretty strict on stuff, but could me a lot more strict!

She doesn't see that she herself causes a lot of the problems. We have discovered she gets PMT, badly! So far she has only had 3 periods, and the last two times, the day before she comes on, she is a right bitch. Have now got her taking supplements to see if that can help

Scout19075 · 27/01/2011 22:25

Does sound interesting, Boffin.

PKM, I'm sure your daughter moans to her friends, so this "no one to moan to" is a crock. I have a sister 9+ years younger than me and I didn't moan to her but to my friends.

Oh Techno, that sounds grim. Was it with leaders, parents, district/division/county or just in general?

I got a lot of "It would be so nice to come out and talk, wouldn't it?" and "It'll be good to see everyone and they can chat to you, isn't it?" ARGH! Does make me wonder if I'm not hiding my medicine-induced slump as well as I thought/hoped I was.

BoffinMum · 27/01/2011 22:27

Dibbler, actually I am wondering if more people have grammar problems. That's one of the things we're interested in.

UniS · 27/01/2011 22:47

Yo.
::unis strolls in with a axe over her shoulder, she is wearing plaid. The NMBs group them selves around for a song::

Been a cold day ( snowed for a bit), but a good day, we have hedged. I'll be going back tomorrow to trade a days labour finishing off the hedge for a car full of firewood (to season for for next year).

Yoga/ committee- went to committee as closer, shorter and I'd get a lift home.

Amber- BUM, tits and Arse . Sink a pint. I'm glad you got the panicing over already.

Boffin- Hi. I am married to a boffin. tis a little odd when he has an idea and wants to work on it at weekend. Generating lots of bits of paper with equations and teh like that I can't read. I only hope he rounds them all up on monday morning as I fear I may recycle something important one day.

I think you may want a straw for your bolly to drink it in that position dear. here, this one is curly and has elephant ears.

Oh Amber,

I am very sorry to her about your poorly boobies. Sad

For breast cancer awareness week our town hall is lit up pink. Milk asked "Ahhh wwwwwhhhhhyyyyy is the townhall pink?" I explained that it is to remember that ladies get poorly boobies.

Since then, and after many many questions mainly in public places, she often checks hers over in the shower. You are right we all should be following Milk's example.

A work friend of mine said that the radiology (sp) makes 'em itch like hell... but that is all which almost made me faint at the time - it seemed so simple!

So... happy scratching my daaarlin' and congratulations on catching it early - thanks to that it is going to be a breeze, I can feel it in my bones!

x x x Lots of love x x x

BoffinMum · 27/01/2011 22:48

Off to bed now, thanks for tea.

Night night.

BoffinMum · 27/01/2011 22:49

and bolly with straw. Grin

UniS · 27/01/2011 22:59

LOL at milk in shower.

Conversation with boy (about long hair=girl short = boy no hair = daddy, initially) has gone as far as some people lose their hair if they are ill and have to take a medicine that makes their hair fall out as well as making them better. he was most incredulous at that.

Boy has his first grazed nose today. "a big boy pushed me over in teh playground" .

Amber, when will you know what type of treatment will be necessary? Surgery, chemo or radiation therapy? Of course you know that CMOT is your best resource for any radiotherapy questions.
And if you do need radiotherapy, there is a cream made by a homeopath on Salt Spring Island (across the Strait of Geoorgia from where I live) which not only heals, but can prevent radiation burns. If you need/want some I will post it to you. My stepdad used it when he had radiotherapy for prostate CA and never got burns. His oncology team were ShockConfused baffled (in a good way). I give it to everyone I know who's needed radiotherapy.

thumbdabwitch · 28/01/2011 01:01

Ooh, very interesting thoughts you have there, Boffinmum!

Purple - I was an Evil Teen. But much of the time I was quite depressed (undiagnosed, but retrospectively blindingly obvious) and I think diet probably played a large part in it. Get her on a good multivit/min as well as EPO for the PMT

Tee2072 · 28/01/2011 08:05

Hi Boffin! I agree, interesting thoughts. I often have problems with words due to my fibro. Very frustrating when you can't think of the word for something like coffee.

Purple - I also was an evil teen. I got better though, I promise.

LCT still ill. Fever and tons of snot. Better night last night though, excepting the midnight vomit over daddy.

amberlight · 28/01/2011 09:19

Morning all.

UniS, eek re your ds being pushed over Shock
Tee, eek also re LCT still being unwell.

JM, yup, we have a schedule. Hilariously, next Thursday I get filled with blue radioactive dye which turns my skin blue for 24 hrs. FineLad is already planning to post that on Facebook Grin. And they do some sort of mini investigative op on nodes on that side (left one only is poorly). Then chemo for four months to see if they can beat the lump into a smaller shape that's easier for mini surgery rather than big stuff. Then they do the surgery.

I feel fine about it all, which is really weird. The waiting for results was the scariest bit.

Yes please to creams that might help. Will gladly pay for that and postage.

Apparently people have double the chance of success if they have lovely friends and family. People just being there is what makes a huge difference. Hooray for friends!

Tee2072 · 28/01/2011 09:35

Thanks for breakfast, Amber. Small feverish boy has fallen asleep on me. I think buying him new shoes will have to wait! I think a positive attitude helps as well.

MyrrhyBS · 28/01/2011 09:56

Am now hyperventilating at the thought of someone thinking I remind them of Father Jack!

Drink! anyone?
