Tea room 22- A Farmhouse kitchen, anyone for a cuppa?

Welcome to the 22nd incarnation of the tea room. This time we are watching for spring from a cosy farmhouse kitchen. There is an aga for baking virtual cakes and an inglenook with toasty fire and settles to rest weary bones on. The distressed chintz sofa and footstool have arrived safe and sound and the priest hole is around here somewhere. On the Window sill is an aspidistra its pot surrounded by a hand holding circle of nearly naked mohawk babies, they have placards and a brazier.

Outside in the surrounding fields can be found the tea room horses, Earl and Lady Grey, also a herd of bison AND a Ha Ha to keep the bishops from invading.

Usual rules apply, no fisticuffs, if you want an argument go else where. Mellors the butler / game keeper will supply all sorts of things on request. Welcome Mums of one, none or many to the tea room of requirement.

Nooo. So many to choose from. Are you an RE teacher too, BoffinMum? I want to use all the suggestions.

missjulie · 31/01/2011 22:57

Back in a bit! DD awake & needs a bottle! xx

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 31/01/2011 22:59

I would have suggested more, Serpent, but I thought I ought to stop. When is the lesson? Perhaps you need to turn it into an all day event, to fit in all the music!

Jacksmama · 31/01/2011 23:03

Hi MissJulie. I'm the tea room's Canadian Content. I live in British Columbia (West Coast of Canada) and as such, am usually 8 hours behind, time -wise.

CMOT, did you get my FB message? If not, I just wanted to know how much time we'd likely be able to spend together in San Diego. DH is leaning towards telling me to go by myself (Shockunbelievable - ME TIME???) anyway as he thinks three days in SD would be too rushed. He's always wanted to go but wants to be able to properly explore, not fly in on Tuesday and out again Friday, which we would have to do. Apparently your hotel is fully booked so if I come by myself, I'll try to get in to the Marriott next door.

Re: wedding: our wedding was at MIL's, she has a gorgeous property and we had a garden wedding with about 150 guests (I didn't know we knew that many people!!). Hottest day that July (37 degrees) but a wonderful day.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 31/01/2011 23:03

Lesson is 30 minutes on Wednesday. Seriously have to think whether I can extend this to all term. A different piece every morning for registration? Intoduction to parents' assembly on Friday? My youtube downloader site is backed up to be going all night!

Jacksmama · 31/01/2011 23:04

Oh, by the way, some fun news for me - my yoga studio is offering a 9-weekend-long teacher training course. Starts first w/e in April, ends last w/e in May. Friday eve, Sat afternoon and all day Sunday and DH said I should do it even though it leaves him alone with JB all weekend for two months!! Whooooooo hoooooooo!!!!!

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 31/01/2011 23:05

What is this downloader site of which you speak?

Donki · 31/01/2011 23:06

Yeah! Go for it JM!

Donki · 31/01/2011 23:06

Techno - I use "Keep it!" to download you tube videos for school

Donki · 31/01/2011 23:07

Night all.

The carrots are on the table if you want one to crunch.

Scout19075 · 31/01/2011 23:07

YAY JM!!!

missjulie · 31/01/2011 23:45

Hi all, we are back, MJ & baby MJ!!

Hello JM, nice to meet you too! xx

Tee2072 · 01/02/2011 07:13

Morning all!

Welcome MJ! I am new to the Tea Room myself. I have one son, LCT, who is 19 months and currently down with D&V. Although I do think he's better.

His dinner has stayed down. His nappy hasn't been disgusting. He's still asleep!! So what am I doing awake?!?!?! Grin

I myself am an American in Belfast, so I also ask daft questions on occasion!

Yes, Scout, Pomp and Circumstance is deffo for grad!

Ode to Joy is one of my favourite pieces of music, so I'd use that.

Really must go buy some food today. It's like Old Mother Hubbard around here.

amberlight · 01/02/2011 07:44

Hi MissJulie!

Au Pairs? One of our consultants had one from central Europe who slashed the family car's tyres. I've been a bit wary about them, just in case Shock

Today, we have to find a piece of land somewhere in North Hampshire. It's gone missing. You wouldn't think land could get very far, really, but a search yesterday by car didn't reveal the location of this bloomin' site so it's back there today for another hunt.

Meantime, our tumble drier went up in smoke a couple of days ago so we're getting another one delivered later, which will stop wet clothes being decoratively draped over every surface.

Who's for tea? Or coffee?

BoffinMum · 01/02/2011 09:58

Amber, if you ring the Electricity Board they will most likely know the name of the farmer who can tell you where the land it. I kid you not.

I've got some Gluhwein on the Aga this morning, with some little Bavarian cinammon biscuits, if anyone would like some.

Have we worn Mellors out? I can't see him anywhere ...

amberlight · 01/02/2011 10:03

I'll try that! (and the Gluhwein and the biscuits)

BoffinMum · 01/02/2011 10:12

Amber, I will raise you on slashing the car tyres. One of my friends' friends had an au pair who actually ran over the toddler's leg in the car. Shock

amberlight · 01/02/2011 10:33

Blimey!

MaryBS · 01/02/2011 11:33
Shock
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 01/02/2011 12:05

::Finally sheds any lingering thoughts about getting an au pair::

Gluhwein with an early lunch? I don't mind if I do.

Where is Mellors? Ah, there he is outside in the watery sunshine, chopping logs for the woodburner. He's obviously feeling rather warm, as he's taken off his woolly jumper and undone several shirt buttons.

::swoons onto the distressed chintz sofa::

amberlight · 01/02/2011 12:14

::Amber, who was on the distressed chintz sofa at the time, (reading What Arc Welder Weekly), fans Techno with said publication and tries to extricate herself from under the collapsed individual::

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 01/02/2011 12:20

Oh, Amber, I am so sorry. I had not seen you behind your copy of What Arc Welder Weekly. It is an unusually large-format publication isn't it?

Here, have some soupe du jour (jours were on special offer in Waitrose), a lewd roll and some back editions of Practical Angle Grinder and Trout Fishing Monthly, a rather recherche magazine with a surprisingly small circulation.

::resumes swoon, this time in the battered Chesterfield::

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 01/02/2011 12:27
amberlight · 01/02/2011 12:29

Soup du jour? Excellent!

It's amazing how they train those trout to fish. And who'd have guessed that practical angles needed grinding! Shock

::Amber ponders the contents of the new magazines in a slightly too literal way::

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 01/02/2011 12:54

::Rouses self from stupor and serves lunch::

How are the plans developing for your all-day euphoric music festival, Serpent?
