Tea Room the Eighteenth - the Cricket Pavilion

Welcome one and all to our new abode - a lovely old-fashioned Cricket Pavilion, with decks outdoors and a rather lovely Members' Bar, complete with deep-seated leather comfy chairs and any drink you care to mention.

Our outdoor amenities include the well-tended cricket pitch, kept immaculate by Mellors, our multi-purpose man; a couple of tennis courts round the back for those who prefer the Wimbledon scene; and another multi-purpose pitch (can be used for hosting Fine Lad-style rugby matches, or Little Kickers' football, or the occasional All Comers' Lacrosse Tournament.

Bishops abound, mostly snoozing in the leather armchairs; there are sundry animals around - guineapigs and bison mostly - and of course the Naked Mohawk Babies, fetchingly attired in cricket whites (most unusual for them!)

The cricket pavilion tea room is open to all - those with only one child who need a safe haven predominate but having more than one child is fine - come in, have an egg'n'cress sandwich and a glass of Pimms!

*other fillings and beverages also available.

Happy Anniversary to HubbyScout!

He's left a surprise pile of pressies on the bed. The paper has made a wonderful toy for BabyScout and a great way to distract while doing a nappy-change (he's taken to being a squirmy-worm lately).

BabyScout in wonderful form today, full of giggles and laughter. Also a good-eats sort of day and actually got him to eat mini Wheatabix for breakfast (brekkie has always been a bit of a challenging meal, finding something he likes). Grant it, he sat and ate them dry with a cup of water for a drink, but he happily gobbled them up. Had 3/4 of a very large banana later for his snack. Now I think has finally given in and is having a sleep he's been fighting for ages.

Shame about the rain.

Mmm, chocolates!

Can't imagine why Cadbury's don't do these in the UK - here we get mini Caramel eggs, mini strawberry creme eggs, mini Turkish delight eggs - I tell you, Easter is a trial! Grin

mini strawberry cream eggs. WOW. Unis rushes out to buy a ticket to OZ pronto. get to bus stop and realises she has no money having spent it all yesterday SHOPPING.

DH was ribbing me last night that we can;t afford for me to not be working if I go SHOPPING on the days I used to be working. HUrpppph. I think he was teasing, but it stung. BUT what work am I likly to pick up that I can fit in 5 hours in teh city were boy is in free childcare. AND HOW is one meant to occupy oneself for 6 hours in acity in autum/ winter with out spending any money....

A mint creme choc disappears from box and heads unis's direction rapidly.

Glad the priest hole is comfy . you just stay there as long as you need.

UniS - when buying on Ebay, I enter all the details in on goofbay, and it bids for me at the last minute. Saves me pushing up the price by bidding too early, and hopefully I can then 'snipe' a deal!

Tesco have got 25% off all wine if you buy 6 or more bottles. AIBU to spend some of the housekeeping on some wine? I've left out essentials Wink so the bill isn't any more than usual!

JBsmama · 01/10/2010 15:18

Oops, wrong country. :o Bummer.

In case anyway is wondering, Nanaimo bars are a Canadian delicacy. They're layered biscuit bars. Some kind of sweet crumby crust on the bottom (graham crackers, I think), then a layer of thick solid custard-type stuff, topped with fudgy chocolate. Impossibly sweet, and impossible to resist.

Mary, sorry about the elbow in the ribs :o - but tell me about Goofbay? What is it?

Jackbaby seems to be handling his cold reasonably well - he's still snotty and coughing, but very cheerful with it, thank goodness. He fell asleep at 6 pm again last night Shock, and woke up briefly at 2:30 but then slept through until 6:45 am! ShockShock He doesn't sleep this well when he's not unwell!

DH is only working briefly today and then we are going to the Apple Barn Pumpkin Farm in Abbotsford. I'll bring you all several bags of Ambrosia apples, shall I? Those, and Honeycrisp, are The Best In The World.

MaryBS · 01/10/2010 16:17

Ouch, my ribs! :o

goofbay

Amongst other things, goofbay has a 'sniper' which allows you to enter the item you're interested in, the maximum amount you're prepared to pay, and how soon before the end of the auction that you want it to bid (eg 20 seconds before end). Called a sniper because it lets you sneak in and snatch it from someone else Blush. But its also useful because it stops you overbidding AND it means you don't have to remember to bid, because it does it all for you, including increasing the bidding if necessary, up to your max bid.

Those biscuits sound wonderful!

Is it too early for bolly and chips/cheese/salsa?

Scout19075 · 01/10/2010 17:25

sad

UniS · 01/10/2010 19:18

chesey chips and tomato ketchup... perfect.
Many thanks

CMOTdibbler · 01/10/2010 20:11

MMMM - thank you for the cheesy chips !

Hurrah - drove new car for the first time today. Rather strange just using the knob to steer, but worked perfectly

UniS · 01/10/2010 20:12

Hurrah for car with knob.

Scout19075 · 01/10/2010 20:44

Yay CMOT!

Scout19075 · 01/10/2010 21:16

Points for HubbyScout -- not only did he leave a pile of presents, he brought home flowers.

thumbwitch · 01/10/2010 23:55

Scout - can't see what your link is supposed to be - takes me to the Yahoo! create account page.

Yay CMOTD! Hope you enjoy driving it around!

D'oh! It was a link to MSNBC.com about a 5 year old who drove a minivan and killed a newborn. I'll see if I can find it again.

thumbwitch · 02/10/2010 08:46

Found it Scout - very :( indeed. Doesn't say whether or not it was the boys' mother (4yo driver, 5yo passenger) but it could have been. Godawful thing to happen.

Stupid migraines!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 02/10/2010 19:37

Oh dear, Scout. That sounds grim. But are you sure it's not a hangover from the anniversary celebrations? Wink

Scout19075 · 02/10/2010 19:40

I wish is what that. Wink It came on about noon and won't go away.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 02/10/2010 19:42

Poor you. Is there anything the tea room can provide which might help?

Comfy sofa with plump cushions and cosy duvet? Hot chocolate? Bolly? Soothing neck rub from Mellors?

UniS · 02/10/2010 20:18

Scout, can I rustle you up a smore?

arrrgh, 4 yr old from hell returned today. why are they sooo changeable at the moment. he ended up on final warning twice today ( separate incidents), has started lying as well. oh joy. BUT hes not very good at it yet.

Hope we flip flop back to nice child tomorrow. Boy has an all afternoon play date! I've just made him some mice ears to wear, as the play date is with another child ( and mum) from our fancy dress team. Event is tomorrow, all the kids are being mice in the team / family photo. 4 kids, all onlyies.
