Tea Room the Eighteenth - the Cricket Pavilion

thumbwitch · 20/09/2010 04:01

Welcome one and all to our new abode - a lovely old-fashioned Cricket Pavilion, with decks outdoors and a rather lovely Members' Bar, complete with deep-seated leather comfy chairs and any drink you care to mention.

Our outdoor amenities include the well-tended cricket pitch, kept immaculate by Mellors, our multi-purpose man; a couple of tennis courts round the back for those who prefer the Wimbledon scene; and another multi-purpose pitch (can be used for hosting Fine Lad-style rugby matches, or Little Kickers' football, or the occasional All Comers' Lacrosse Tournament.

Bishops abound, mostly snoozing in the leather armchairs; there are sundry animals around - guineapigs and bison mostly - and of course the Naked Mohawk Babies, fetchingly attired in cricket whites (most unusual for them!)

The cricket pavilion tea room is open to all - those with only one child who need a safe haven predominate but having more than one child is fine - come in, have an egg'n'cress sandwich and a glass of Pimms!

*other fillings and beverages also available.

Well, I may have this wrong, but I think the final list went something like this ...

Tea to send parcel to AandO
AandO to send parcel to Oxeye
Oxeye to send parcel to Small
Small to send parcel to Racing
Racing to send parcel to Mistle
Mistle to send parcel to CMOT
CMOT to send parcel to Tea

Mary and Amber and JM and Scout have already exchanged/are exchanging, I think.
Catita and Thumb aren't taking part, I think, because international postage would swallow up all the budget and then some.

But I am very very old and my brain is worn out. I may have got this arse about face wrong.

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 29/09/2010 22:17

Aha! So how do I find Mistle's address? I don't think that I have spotted her on FB.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 29/09/2010 22:22

She's there. Look for the who are we? discussion.

The list above is taken from A&O's version there, where Scout appeared twice. I assumed Scout didn't want to do it all twice but if she does then her place was somewhere in the middle of the list.

Scout - whaddya think?

AandO · 29/09/2010 22:51

Oops, sorry about putting in Scout twice Blush.

I still need someone on fb to message me with oxeyes email address. Sorry to harass, but I leave for India in 10 days Shock!!

Just read through the past few pages. Dh was home for two nights so no mn! He is away most of the week lately, working. I'm ok with it actually, I suppose because its a short term thing.

Scout - LittleO had the trike you linked to! He didn't use it a great deal but thats just him...he also has a rocking moose, and a ride on digger, he has hardly ever used any of them!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 29/09/2010 22:56

AandO - I'm not sure you did anything wrong at all. Maybe Scout should be in there twice - once for a transatlantic swap and once for the UK version. I may have done the wrong thing by interfering. Blush Blush

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 29/09/2010 23:04

Did try to find Mistle, but no joy. I'm not very clever on this new-fangled technology of you young things. Blush

AandO · 29/09/2010 23:07

Serpent, are you even in the tea room part, or just on fb generally?

AandO · 29/09/2010 23:09

I'm off to bed. Night night all xxx

mistlethrush · 30/09/2010 00:15

I've not been in on fb for a few days - will go and make sure I'm obvious.... I did post a thread about the list - which I then managed to mess up - so that Unis was missed off - but she's been squeezed in after me before CMot becuase I knew I'd not sent anything to CMOt at that stage Blush - my parcel is still, very much, on the 'work in progress' - but its coming on....

Half term - we've got TWO WEEKS this year yikes - if we had enough money to do so or any stability it would have been the ideal time for a week somewhere warm. However, mistlechick will have to make do with spending a week with me and then a week with my parents - although he's booked in on a sports course for three days of that - much to his excitement!

Wrote an essay in mistlechick's reading book - got a snotty note in it saying that I was meant to read his books with him before Thursday and I needed to check his bag for letters. And he needed more practice because he was mixing up was and saw. I pointed out that I normally go through everything - but its been an abnormal week - so he was out last night - I was out at a work thing on Monday night - and that we did read a book this evening (before I read the snotty note) - and I didn't necessarily have time to read the class board every morning when I dropped him off early as I was in a rush to get to work so that I could pick him up in time to get something done (eg homework) before going to bed. We get home between 4.30 and 5 - he is on his way to bed by 6.30 - with tea etc, there's really not that much time! So I was a bit Angry when I wrote the note - oh - and I pointed out that he used to reverse his writing - still reversed numbers - so the fact that he was reading was as saw wasn't perhaps that much of a surprise, particularly as I have mild dyslexia. Grrrrr.

oxeye · 30/09/2010 00:43

Racing - I'm afraid Tea won't be able to have a cosmopolitan day with me, because I'm on my way to spend the day with you! Sounds heaven. And since this is the tea room my dear departed OxHound will come too, however grotty autumn seems, with a dog in tow it is very heaven as they love the snuffles and the wet and mud (well the type of OxHounds we have always do Grin)

AandO I am afriad the email account I set up for the london contact is now defunct, but Small, CMOT and Amber all found me in RL so if they can safely pass on my email via FB tearoom that's fine by me... I have never managed FB I'm afraid - am I missing loads

10 days to Goa - I was wondering, are you excited?

Anyone see Grand Designs today? I wept

amberlight · 30/09/2010 07:35

Can't risk making social mistakes on here and I know I'm too exhausted to think properly at the mo. Hate doing a bad job of being a friend, so it's easier if I just stay very quiet for a bit rather than risk people thinking I'm being rude/whatever Blush

MaryBS · 30/09/2010 08:35

Amber, I would HOPE no-one thinks of you as rude or a bad friend. We're here for you when you're ready anyhow.

oxeye · 30/09/2010 11:23

We're the tea room. Amber we understand all (or try to) and forgive all (definitely). You won't offend but we understand your desire for absence.

Mellors will protect you and provide any little service you and in the priest hole. See you soon dear

for the rest of you tea roomers there is only coffee, hit chocolate , some birthday cake with, you've guessed it, ride on naked mowhawk babies Grin

thumbwitch · 30/09/2010 11:25

oxeye - before I go back and read the last 3 days to catch up, I need to ask you if you are in any position to offer any help/advice/numbers to TDWP on this thread - her exH has "stolen" their DC (failed to return them after a contact weekend) and she's having troubles getting them back. I don't know whether or not this is your province but maybe you know someone who is hot on this stuff?

Will go back and read the rest now...

OK - been and read back. Can't remember much of it, getting old and that (Happy Birthday, Oxeye, welcome to my age Wink) but I can offer an idea to Scout - we bought this ride-on for miniThumb because it seemed to cater for multiple ages and it was even cheaper than it appears to be now. He used it on its rockers briefly then wanted to be going around on it but needed to be pushed - it has been used sporadically outside since we got to Australia but recently has really taken off again as he has got the hang of pushing with his feet and steering is coming slowly! The BIG success though was the orange radio bit in the steering wheel (it comes out) as he LOVED that - 4 original dancey tunes, baby giggle and horns etc - he used to dance to the tunes all the time (and still does sometimes). The only let down were the security straps - desperately short and not well adjustable but if BabyScout is sufficiently stable or you're only using it indoors or on grass, it's not a big problem.
So - miniThumb had it for his 1st birthday and is still using it coming up to his 3rd. :)
We're going to get him a balance bike for his 3rd birthday, I think they're a great idea. Alternatively, if MrThumb is feeling tight, we might just buy him a normal bike and take the pedals off Grin.

Amber - you cannot upset us in here. We know you, we know you are having troubles (sorry about the Fine Lad's rib, btw) and we know it affects your wiring - we will love you and support you regardless of how you respond so please stay - lurk in the priesthole or wherever you feel comfortable but remember you are safe here with us. :)

JBM - boo re family troubles and (((hugs))) to you.

To everyone else - rah for France, boo to colds and other ailments, hurrah for people meeting each other, yay for parcel exchange and sorry if I've forgotten anything else.

Dubbo (Taronga Western Plains) Zoo was rather good but mostly because we got to cycle around it - miniThumb's first go on a bike-seat behind MrThumb (bit Blush that it's taken this long to get him on one, tbh) and he LOVED it so we need to go out and buy MrThumb his own bike with a bike-seat for miniThumb so we can do more cycling. Then I might lose some of my spare tyre.

Oh, I think Tea was asking about Little Kickers - it's football for tinies. Starts at about 18mo but I didn't sign miniThumb up for it that early, it seemed a bit too keen, we started going a couple of weeks ago and it's really quite sweet watching all these tinies in their football strip running around kicking balls and having to listen to the coaches.
It started in the UK but they have franchises here in Australia as well. So far I am quite happy with it!

UnSerpentQuiCourt · 30/09/2010 12:53

Amber, you wouldn't upset us. Ever.

Happy Birthday, Oxeye - sorry I missed it.

How do I get on to the Tea Room part of FB? I did try, but no luck.

Oxeye, you and OxHound are essential for said day out.

Very brief message - Wriggle has two friends to play who are busy wrecking the house while AP and I make plum jam. Smile

thumbwitch · 30/09/2010 13:08

Serpent, I think you have to do something with Scout - not quite sure, it's a while now since we did it - but she manages the site and you have to request permission to join. Scout will definitely tell you how it works though. :)

Plum jam sounds good - any lewd rolls going to put it on?

OP posts:
CMOTdibbler · 30/09/2010 14:50

I have this feeling I should make some jam - I can see all our neighbours picking blackberries/damsons/feral plums in the woodland, and feel inadequate. And I do live in plum central. But have half a kitchen, and no jam ability, so it's not going to happen

I bought my first packet of mince pies today - luvverly !

Scout19075 · 30/09/2010 14:54

Sorry, have been without a phone line/internet/tv since Tuesday. Will catch up.

No new member requests for the group. Is there someone who's a FB friend with you already that can recommend you? Otherwise we're "RL Tea Room" in case there was anothe

Grin at Scout - yes, miniThumb gets into doing that sometimes too!

Serpent - have sent you a personal message into your inbox at the top of the page - you should have a red blob on your envelope! :)
