hello,
i'm new to all this and a bit bewildered so any recommendations - or otherwise - would be gratefully received (my baby will be 10-11 months when i go back to work part time). thanks in advance. don't get much chance to do research during nap times cos nap times (when they do eventually happen) usually involve me pushing him around in his buggy!

Hello, we have just moved from Stoke Newington and our daughter was in Academic Place on Leswin Road and she and we loved it. Mini Home, Coconut & Rainbow are really popular but have huge waiting lists.I would say that Academic is a little bit no frills but great space and everyone who works there is lovely. Hope that helps!

hi stokey38, thanks for that - i walked past it yesterday on my way to view the fire station community nursery so i will give them a ring. i rang coconut and they said their waiting list was a year and a half and the earliest appointment to view it was in november. can't believe how everywhere is so oversubscribed, it's quite alarming!

I know we had the same problem - we were offered a few at the childrens centres and also Mini Home but not on the days we wanted. Independent Place offered us a place pretty quickly and have good OFSTED etc but if you are Highbury end of Stoke Newington might be a bit of schlep. Only reason we didn't take that place was that we felt DD was a bit young at the time. Had the same problem with Coconut and I think rainbow are in the process of moving premises so not taking anyone else on their lists. Also heard good things about Fire Station if that helps.

thanks stokey38, we are just off green lanes but it's not too far to the other side of the sn high street if you cut through that little maze of streets behind church st. i like the sound of minihome but i can't go and look round until june. wasn't sure about the fire station, although the woman who showed me round was lovely, but it was the first one i looked at so i don't have anything to compare it with - the downside, for me, was the tiny outside space. does the academic one have a garden?
