Views on Broadhurst School nursery and nursery preparation for 4+ assessments

Hi all, our DS has been offered a place at Broadhurst School nursery, but the latest reviews (2024) are quite negative. Would anyone be able to share a fair, up-to-date view of the nursery?

We're aiming for him to join a selective school in North West London, so I'd also love to hear how important it is to have a nursery that focuses on 4+ assessment prep.

I am a recent parent and sadly would not recommend starting my child there now. Many individual teachers were excellent, but turnover is very high and there have been ongoing issues related to management and direction. For a while, things seemed to be headed back in a positive direction, but issues recently resurfaced such that many parents are very unhappy and looking to move their children elsewhere.

It is difficult to find a nursery that will focus on 4+ prep as not all of the children will be sitting the assessments - so they don't have an incentive to accelerate things for a small group of their children.

Nurseries are good for helping to focus on the social and emotional development. Working in groups, sharing, taking-turns, talking to adults and children etc. These are things parents often overlook when preparing for the 4+ or find it hard to know what to do. But they are just as important as knowing numbers, shapes, colours, phonics etc.

I would do some research on what needs to be covered and focus on that at home or with a tutor. I will send you a DM with more info. 😎
