I have googled everywhere and asked my nursery, but still stumped. I cannot understand whether I can use Tax-Free scheme if my nursery does not charge VAT?

Does anybody know the answer?

Yes you can, the tax-free childcare scheme has nothing to do with VAT. It's a partial tax rebate for you on your income tax.

But your nursery ought to be able to tell you whether they accept payment via tax-free childcare or not.

Yes of course, it's nothing to do with VAT.

Yes, you're mixing up your taxes, the two things have nothing to do with each other. I dont think nurseries come under VAT anyway

I’m a childminder and I don’t pay VAT, all my parents pay via Tax Free

Oh - thank you all! My nursery did not give me a straight answer - they just said "other parents do it".

Ah i see, I thought it was called tax free in relation with VAT but now reading it like that does make more sense!

Thank you!
