Can I take toddler along with me to my baby's nursery settling in session?

DS1 who is 3 and has been attending nursery for a year now. DS2 is 13 months and has a settling in session next Wednesday at the same nursery. DS1 doesnt attend nursery on Wednesdays.

This first settling in session is 2hrs where a parent is present and the staff go over everything with you whilst baby plays for 1hr, followed by 1hr of leaving the child.

A friend was supposed to watch DS1 next Wednesday but due to a car recent accident, cant. Is it cheeky of me to ask nursery if DS1 can attend for 1hour? Obviously hed be in his usual room as it would be odd for him to be with baby and me in the baby room.

We have no family in the area. So cant ask anyone else.

AIBU?

Ask them if you want but why would they give you free childcare for the toddler? Can’t see why they’d let him go in his usual room, best thing is to rearrange for a day when he’s in nursery anyway. If you have to take your toddler I’d expect you to care for him.

Sorry forgot to add, I would pay for the hour of course!

Can’t hurt to ask then. But rearranging might be easier all round

I would arrange it for a day she is in nursery already.

My nursery can charge by the hour or half day for ac hoc sessions

The only person who can answer this is the nursery manager. It will all depend on ratios and they may not be able to answer until the actual day as it may change if a member of staff is off sick or if any of the other children are off sick
