As a soon to be nursery owner

• What do you do about potty training? What strategy are you planning to use? - can we back you up?
• Do you have an outside playarea and can I see it? Of course and the children will have free access to all the Outdoor space - I rejected a property because it didn't have enough
• Can I see the area the children will have their naps in? It's over here - each child will have their own bedding (provided by us - we get them hand knitted or crocheted by local ladies)

• What will you do about catering and what sort of food will you provide? My mum has been in catering since the 70's will be providing freshly cooked food with an emphasis on quality ingredients and a wide range of flavours

• How will you structure the day? By using child led activities interspersed by mealtimes and several adult led opportunities - with the children having free access to the toys/equipment

Will you come to mine? (it isn't even properly planned yet)

wow that sounds so poorly planned!! The montesorri I mean not yours Katy - YOURS sounds great!! Would send DS there if we were near!

There is a montesorri in our village that our DS may or may not go to. I hope its better run than the one you have mentioned!

it's a shame as montessori doen well is a really good system but tbh this sounds more like them using the term montessori to get away with just letting the kids wander about in confusion all day and not have to make many decisions.

and wtf, 8500 and thay clearly haven't decided on very basic issues like outdoor play areas and food?

would be quite concerned about the lack of thought re potty training too, kids need a fair bit of reminding for the first year or so, you'd end up having to send 5/6 spare pairs of pants a day!

& those parent who decide when their children are ready can go through about 10

We have two montessori schools near us, but neither of them are accredited, ie approved and sanctioned by Montessori Ass. So DD did not go, if it is done well, its great, but I agree that some places use it as a base, and use the label to charge more/get children through the door.

It must be followed properly to be good.

Well- St George's nursery is Montessori- so that prove to be the ideal solution for your family!
STG was very child orientated I felt- they were not quite as keen as other schools at forcing the academic side- and were happy for children to be put up, or stay down a year if necessary to keep at the right pace for them.
It is very intimate though- only 16 children per year.
