ds 3 1/2 y o becoming unhappy at nursery

Looking for some advice...
DS is 3and a half and has always been happy at nursery (2 full days a week since age 1.) He has recently changed sites (the nursery we yse has 2 sites) along with all his friends. Since moving to the new place he has become increasingly more reluctant to go, peaking this morning when he was in tears - this has not happened since he was first settled in age 1! Whenever nursery is mentioned he says he doesn't want to go. When questioned (gently - I'm trying not to make it into a big deal) he can't explain why. He also attends playgroup elsewhere, and is perfectly happy to be left there, though that is a half day. He is not clingy and normally happy and quite independant. I don't know what to do and am getting worried that something is wrong with the nursery. Is it a phase or should I be looking for alternatives??? Help!

You have my sympathy It' hard to leave them when they don't appear to enjoy nursery. If I were you I'd speak directly to the nursery, his key worker if there is one. See if they can come up with a plan to help him feel more settled. If you don't have any luck with them, try and speak to others mum's/dads and see how they find this new site. Good luck, hope you can get it sorted.

Have exact with my 3.5 year old - was in nursery F/T (4 days) from age 8 months, no problems at all, we had to move him this time last year to new nursery, hasn't settled, cries everyday, very stressful .

I'm now on maternity leave and have reduced his days to 2 per week - seems much happier but if we have a break same scenario and refuses to go. Tried everything, from star charts, rewards, everything but he just says he doesn't want anything, he just wants to stay at home with me.....
