If i register my child for nursery in April can I change it in September for another one?

My child has turned 3 this month and hence is eligible to start nursery in April for the free hours.
The nursery of my choice doesn't accept children from April term (I don't know if that only applies for free hours, which I'm looking to do atm).
I have made an application there in January for next September and they said they'll add us to waiting list (we live 5 minutes walk from there).

Another nursery is ready to accept us from April for the free 15 hrs. But it's quite far and I don't drive so while the weather is warm it's fine to take a walk back and forth for the 3 hours in the nursery. But not something I'm looking to do in the autumn and winter.

My question is - once we register with them will our application for the other one still be reviewed? Will they know the child is enrolled already in another one?

Yes you can change - look at your contract for notice period.

No, Nurseries don't share their waiting lists with each other.
