Tattoos of staff members....

I would like some opinions on this subject.....
How would you feel about a member of staff in your child's nursery having tattoos? Would it bother you, would you feel differently about them to the other members who didn't have any? Would it effect the way you were with them? Or would it stop you choosing that setting for your child?

Tattoos do not change a person. They are pictures on their body.
Can I ask why would tattoos put you off?

Unless it said “I f’ing hate children’ or similar then it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest

I wouldn't even bat an eyelid. A tattoo wouldn't make them any less capable of doing their job.

I totally mis understood and thought it was a tattoo of a staff member, on one of the parents Grin that would be nuts

But no, general tattoos wouldn't put me off u less it's something offensive or racist etc

Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest unless it was swastikas and maybe some portraits of well known murderers.

Wouldn't bother me personally, it's a method of self expression, like brightly coloured hair.
I also think it's less common to find someone without a tattoo these days?

What's your opinion? Tattoos don't mean someone is incapable of doing their job.

How peculiar? Unless it was offensive it's no worse than piercings or dyed hair, ie not an issue.

I am a member of my Church PCC, help run children's work at my Church and have a tattoo and piercings and are looking to get more, does this mean I shouldn't either??

Slightly outdated to be judging a person's ability to do their job on whether they have tattoos or not.

One of ds nursery worker has tattoos on her face.. I was a bit Shock at first tbh but she is a lovely women and fantastic at her job. That’s all that matters to me.

Thank you all!! I work in childcare and have tattoos, but am asked to keep them covered at work so wanted to know the opinions of parents to see if it would bother those using the setting. Good to hear what you've all said. I have the same opinion (obviously due to me having them haha) and feel that as long as they are not offensive, it shouldn't be an issue.

I wouldn't think anything of it.

One of DS2's key workers in the baby room was quite tattooed. All I was concerned with was how well she cared for him. He loved her and consequently so did I.

My husband has tattoos, as does my mam, stepdad, and my brother. None of these have any impact on the fact that my ds adores them.

The last thing I’d consider when choosing a nursery is whether or not the staff had tattoos. To be honest I’m not sure i’d even really notice.

Well it depends on the tattoo but if it was something innocuous like flowers/geometric/kittens/basically not something shockingly offensive I really wouldn’t care. I don’t have tattoos myself and would probably think twice about dating someone who had visible ones (in the same way I would think twice about dating someone who wears exercise gear as clothing in general). So I am definitely not biased in their favour but I really genuinely believe that it doesn’t matter if your childcare professionals have different aesthetic taste. My au pair wears athleisure. I’m not about to get rid of her for ‘setting a bad example’ or some other nonsense. She’s great at what she does, my kids love her (so do I) and she has every right to dress in a way that is to her taste. I don’t see how tattoos are any different.

Yeah it is crazy. I'm a nanny and i have a few tattoos, however I also make sure that most times they can be covered up as not every one likes them.

If it was of something that may cause offence then I wouldn't be happy, otherwise I wouldn't mind at all. Makes no difference to how they do their job.

It would somewhat hypocritical to be concerned as both my husband and I have tattoos and we manage to run our own business another 9 people at least two also have tattoos to be fussy about them in a childcare setting. Our Nanny has one too and it wasn't an issue. I'm more concerned about an ability to do the job and care for my children.

Depends. Skulls, creepy clowns etc. are a no from me. Gotta be kid friendly.
