What shoes are you allowed to wear in summer?

I work in a nursery and I'm ashtray staying the summer. The room I'm in is a conservatory which gets v hot. We are apparently not allowed open toed sandals. I hate having hot feet and usually live in flip flops. I'm aware they're not appropriate but can't bear the thought of enclosed shoes in that room. What is usual footwear?

The staff at my dd's nursery just wear socks

Ahhh, boiled eggs. That makes sense! The shoes don't!
Insancerre, we have no logs in our garden!

Puppy, socks sounds... OK, but do they never go in the garden /clean out toilets/ hello children with teeth brushing and hand washing. They may get soggy quite quickly.

If they leave the baby room they wear trainers

I use black hiking sandals. Closed toe but open at sides to keep cool with a decent sole to run after the children, go in the sandpit and around the garden etc.

We also have a summer uniform of black shorts and uniform tee shirt which helps as the polo shirts get hot around the neck.

Tumbleweed, that's great. Yes. The polo's are v thick. I'll look at hiking sandals.

I can't decide if I like or hate my non-standard crocs like this. They are practical if you are in and out all day but no less of a trip hazard than open toed sandals.
