we are moving to oxford from USA; can you suggest a nursery?

we have a 2 year old boy and we are moving to oxford from USA in january; do you have a suggestion about a good private nursery in oxford center (jerico area)? we will apply for a university nursery but we know that there is a long waiting list so we have to find a place meanwhile.

You may want to consider looking at local Oxford parenting and community pages... This is a nationwide page and therefore unlikely that anyone on this board will have such specific knowledge of an area (unless someone local chances upon you post).

If you look at the Nurseries listed on the university childcare pages, not all of them are university-only. Some are private with a few University subsidised places, so worth checking them out (even if you don't get a subsidised place). Also shoot an email to Wolfson College, they have a lovely little nursery and offer places outside the nursery if they are not full.

You are right though, the list is long. I put my name down when I was 14 wks pregnant for a spot when my lo was 1 and only got offered a place when she was 2.4!! You have more chance of a place if you are a student I think. Most of my Oxford friends seem to use childminders.
