Nurseries in Southgate/Barnet - Bad experience with East Barnet Kids Unlimited

Hi there

I really need some help finding a good nursery for my 2 year old son in the Southgate/Barnet area - I would rather go on recommendation than trawling through endless websites and ofsted reports.

I have had to remove him from Kids Unlimited in East Barnet as there was an incident with a staff member who handled my child forcefully. I was informed by the manager and all the relevant procedures were put in place and outside agencies were involved, however I feel let down by the nursery for employing someone with such little training in management of behavior.

Now I am in the situation where I need to find a nursery asap as I need to return to work, yet feel happy that my Son is being cared for appropriately.

Can anyone suggest a good nursery in this area, or even the surrounding areas? I am happy to travel to find the right nursery.

firstly im sorry this happened to your child but i have to ask why do you want to move him? the nursery handling the situation correctly, they didnt try to hide it or cover it up and im assuming the staff member in question will be sacked and be unable to work with kids again! there is no way the nursery cud have contemplated them doing that cos they obv wudnt have employed them! even a person with the most qualifications and experience can snap and there is no way to tell who that person will be! i think if u were happy with the nursery before the incident then give it another chance but well if there's no way you'll be able to settle knowing he's there then yeah change. sorry im not in that area so cant help with suggestions x

I can recommend a fantastic nursery in Enfield called Goldstar, My children go their and my eldest went their years before.The care and teaching methods are great. What i am really impressed with is the way it is so organised, structured and very clean. The management is fab and always on hand.

I just pulled my two year old out of Kids Unlimited East Branet. She seemed really unhappy there - not sure what it was. I did try my best to settle her in but she was always upset even when i parked the car outside she refused to go in. I was not really impressed with it in the end - the staff seem nice enough but some of them seem very young and in-experienced. May22 sorry to hear that your child had to go through that - make me worry now as our little ones were probably in the same class then! Will be interested to know further details!. I am now putting my little one into leading strings nursery in southgate - it has an outstanding ofstead report - lets see!
