Nursery couldn't tell me. I'll phone the council tomorrow, just wondered if someone knows?

this is what our local council website (North Lanarkshire) says:

Children who reach 3 years of age between 1 March and the 31 August can start nursery in the August Term ( children who will not reach three until after the start of the school term must wait until their third birthday before they can start nursery)

This would mean that in our area your dd would get funding from the start of the August term

Unfortunately she won't get funding, but will be able to start on the 13th. She won't get funding till January. It happened to me to with DD, whose birthday was the day before the term started.

it depends on the area - as I said above North Lanarkshire will take them from August if their birthday is that month. If their birthday is between 1st Sept and the last date in February they can start the day after their 3rd birthday. Check you local council website - ours says this:

In line with North Lanarkshire Council's 'Free at Three' policy children will be eligible for a statutory funded nursery place in line with the following dates:-

Children who reach 3 years of age between 1 March and the 31 August can start nursery in the August Term ( children who will not reach three until after the start of the school term must wait until their third birthday before they can start nursery)

Children who reach 3 years of age between 1st September and the last date in February can start nursery the day after their third birthday.

Cheers, didn't think about looking at the council website, doh! Is it bad that I ask MN before googling?!?!!

I'm in south Lanarkshire and their cut off is the 31st of August, so looks like she will get funding in the first term. Woo hoo!!
