Price of nursery places for under-threes in Croydon/south London

Hi,

I wondered if anyone had ideas of prices for nursery care (8-6, potentially 5 days a week) for children aged 1 year to 3 years in Croydon or south London generally? I'm expecting twins in April, would prefer to stay at home for a couple of years but might be persuaded to go back depending on nursery costs.

About £50 a day per child from the age of 1(some offer sibling discounts). Once the child turns 2 it gets marginally cheaper. It's an expensive business! Waiting lists can be long, so it may not be too early for you to start looking, then you'd get a better idea of costs too.

£48-68 per day per child round SW16 (most round here are £50ish/day, with one very expensive one), and waiting lists for under-ones of 6-12 months.
Goes down about £5 a day aged 2, then term after they turn 3 it goes down significantly.

Do you or DP get a discount with a chain via work? Bloke on my road used to push his twins in pushchair twice as far as ds's nursery (so about 25 min walk for him, then 10-15 min back to the station, then long commute) simply because the discount he got at the Teddies was so significant.

I'm down the road in Wallington and we pay £820 a month for DS to attend nursery full time, 5 days a week. About a six month waiting list around here too (one particularly good one often shows around pregnant women - yikes!).
