Arrrrgh! Another mother at dd's nursery!

Her ds really stands out. She dresses him in the most outrageously OTT outfits to go to nursery, he has more shoes than I do all from Spain/Italy etc. Today he was wearing a silk romper top and it was already dirty by the time my DD got to nursery. everyone is always complimenting the mum and she loves it and is always playing it down, you can tell she is thrilled.

When I asked her how much she spent on her son's (she doesn't wear flashy clothes herself) wardrobe she told me that her two closest friends worked in the childrenwear business and most of his clothes were samples, she didn't agree in keeping stuff for best and didn't care if things got ripped or stained as long as her boy was happy

Argh she was so so smug, I can't stand people like that!

Oh Lordy! What have I started?

RachD · 01/09/2005 14:35

negligee are you talking to me - I can't type for laughing so much - how did you know that ds has wonky eyes - but no, it wasn't me - primark is far too upmarket for my type

negligeewearer · 01/09/2005 14:38

ahem...no that was directed at NT.

Am off to the dry cleaners now, then off to buy a job lot of startch for my sons silk nappies

RachD · 01/09/2005 14:43

Oh right, so that you can slip him into silk, after his oil bath and his dinner of saffron caviar .

Maybe notelling could start afresh, make friends with this woman who she clearly finds attractive , and borrow some of these silk beauties.
Then there wouldn't be any 'mouth like a cat's bottom' - Right ?

frannyf · 01/09/2005 14:48

My son is sometimes outlandishly dressed. I suspected it sometimes made people laugh, but never thought it would provoke a reaction like this. Agree with WWB there is maybe something deeper going on here!

RachD · 01/09/2005 14:52

yes -come on WWB, what is going on here - give us your view

WigWamBam · 01/09/2005 14:56

I just think that nt has deeper issues with this woman than what her son is wearing. It seems a strange thing for someone to be het up about and make accusations of being smug over, if the clothing thing is all there is to this.

frannyf · 01/09/2005 15:02

Think nt has scarpered so I guess we will never know...

hunkermunker · 01/09/2005 15:04

Think there's rather a lot of involved, WWB.

notelling · 01/09/2005 15:07

No Franny I haven't scarpered just looking after my girls.

Look this girl just bugs me, she just seems a bit fake to me and yes smug.

I don't particulary like or dislike her but I think she's a bit in your face and I have to see that quite frequently. Look I really didn't think my post would cause such a reaction and I think some of the things I said were a bit rash too, ok?

notelling · 01/09/2005 15:09

Hunkermunker what am I jealous of exactly?. I can dislike someone because of the way they act can't I? there doesn't have to be an underlying issue like jealousy.

sigh.

hunkermunker · 01/09/2005 15:09

Bet she thinks you're lovely.

notelling · 01/09/2005 15:10

she might do, but I doubt it. I try to avoid her most days.

OP posts:
notelling · 01/09/2005 15:11

Oh and Rach I don't think she's in the least bit attractive. Nice try

Why do you care enough to post on here in tones about what her child wears?

frannyf · 01/09/2005 15:13

I know what you mean, nt. Sometimes people just get in your face and every little thing about them annoys you. A friend of mine was nearly driven crazy by the type of socks another mother always wore!

hunkermunker · 01/09/2005 15:14

Socks?! Blimey!

chloe55 · 01/09/2005 15:17

Yeah some people really wind me up too, DH often thinks I am being very unreasonable about particular things people do but he just doesn't alway get it, iykwim?! I think you seem to be overeacting a bit but you are just voicing your opinion and we all get a bit like that sometimes

frannyf · 01/09/2005 15:18

Yes, I know. She did get a grip eventually. But it goes to show, when someone has p*ed you off, then everything about them is so irritating.

RachD · 01/09/2005 15:18

The other lady does sound just a tiny bit o-t-t though, doesn't she ? - theres no need to wear frilly, silk, suity things to nursery, everyday is there ?
I mean, they are some people who just get up your nose, isn't there?

Yeah I see your point Rach but I guess it is up to the mum what she dresses her kids in (not that most of us would dream of putting our little boys in frills and waistcoats - no offence to anyone)

RachD · 01/09/2005 15:33

Do you think its bitchy, Dinosaur - which bit isn't like it used to be ?
