Advice about nurseries near st margaret's or twickenham?

Hello. I am a first time mum and will be going back to work when my baby is around 10 months old. Absolutely clueless as to which nurseries are good in my area.

Can anyone recommend any nurseries in st margarets or twickenham where they take babies under 1? I will only need a nursery for a few days a week.

Thanks so much!

Hi Showcan, to be honest you really need to go and have a look at them as we all get a different feel for different places. Make sure you have a list of questions to ask so you can compare them. And you really need to get in there and put your name down now as they are generally well booked for babies. Mums put their babies names down when they conceive! I can recommend Monkey Puzzle in Twickenham but not sure where you live so may be too far out but it is doable for the London commute as they are open 7.30am - 6.30pm. Good luck.

My DC is at Bright Beginnings (a new nursery near the Holly Rd playground) and aside from a few minor gripes, I'm generally very pleased with them. Feel free to e-mail me on sheendalerd at tiscali co uk if you'd like more info.

I've heard good things about Brook House on Cole Park Rd but they're not open on Fridays and it would have made my commute a bit tricky.

There's also Teddies just off London Rd (near junction with Whitton Rd) - I had a look around and it seemed fine but was fully booked. This was before Bright Beginnings opened though so may have more space now - but on balance I'm pleased we ended up where we did. I would have preferred to put DC with a childminder but no-one had space when I was looking and I'm reluctant to uproot them now.

Hi showcan. How did you get on with your search? I am going through the same thing as you, and was wondering whether you could give me a head start. Are there pitfalls I should avoid? Any advice gratefully received. It's a minefield out there!
