Hi everyone,

My name's Mike Foden and I'm a Senior Research Associate in the ESRC Centre for Sociodigital Futures at the University of Bristol.

We're currently looking for individuals and families living in and around Sheffield, to take part in a research project about the changing role of TV and digital media in everyday life. We're thinking of this in very broad terms, including traditional broadcast TV, streaming and catch-up services, as well as content viewed through platforms like YouTube. We're interested in the different ways you watch these forms of media (when, where, how, who with) and the role that doing so plays in your everyday routines, household relationships and wider social interactions. We are also interested in your views and feelings about these things.

There will be an initial interview which will take place in your home, and you will receive a £50 gift voucher as a thank you for doing this. There is then an optional second visit, which will involve a tour of the different spaces and screens in your home and an interactive activity where I will watch TV with you and ask a few follow-up questions. There will be another £50 voucher for doing the second visit.

If you are interested and want to find out more, please either email me ([email protected] [email protected]) or send me a private message on here. Please also feel free to ask any questions about the research and what it involves.

Many thanks in advance for your help!
