I’m trying to make jeans that actually fit short women. Tell me what I need to get right!

Hi all, I’m Molly and I’m 5'2".

Full disclosure: I’m starting a small jeans brand for women 5'3 and under, called inmygenes.. There’s nothing to buy yet. I’m here to listen before we make anything as I really want to make sure we get it right.

Why I’m doing it: I’m 5’2 and every “petite” pair I buy are still too long and the back of the waist gaps the second I sit down. I’ve spent more on hemming than I’d like to admit!

What sizes are you planning on doing? I'm under 5ft 1 and struggle to get jeans that fit because apparently if you are short, you can't possibly be above a size 16!

I’m 5.2 and have not struggled. M&S jeans petite are very good. No gaping. Generally a size 10/12

I am 5ft. I always struggle. As well as a variety on leg lengths and sizes there needs to be shape. Straight, curvy, extra curvy etc ....for around the hip bum tum area.

I’m 4’10 and fat! I love snag jeans and they work for me.

Please make jeans that suits short thin and fat women. I veer between sizes 20 and 24 and most petite ranges are for size 16 and under.

Me too, 5’ 1” pear shape. They did mess around with lengths a while ago and short became too long but I got some short 12 siennas this year which are good. Lots of other styles for various body shapes.
Next are often good too for petite jeans and trousers.

Its knitwear and jackets which are harder to find with appropriate proportions.
