Has anyone else lost confidence in knowing what skincare is actually worth buying since turning 40?

It's not that there aren't enough products. If anything, there are too many. Every time I start looking, I end up reading reviews, comparing ingredients and wondering whether any of it is actually worth the money.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel much less sure than I used to.

I can find loads of advice about facial skincare, but when it comes to my neck, chest and hands (which seem to be ageing quite happily without asking permission!), I seem to find far less.

It's made me wonder whether other women feel the same, or whether I'm just overthinking it.

I've put together an anonymous survey because I'm genuinely curious. It's mostly tick boxes, and there's no catch. No names, no email addresses, no mailing list and nothing being sold.

If you've found products that have genuinely made a difference, I'd love to hear about them in the thread too.

This is either a decent idea or a midlife crisis. If enough women feel the same way, I might try creating something and selling it. I'd rather find out which before I get too carried away.

Thanks.

Women over 40: what works, what's annoying, and what you wish existed

I'm doing independent research into how women over 40 shop for skincare, makeup and body care: what works, what's frustrating, and what you wish existed. It's anonymous, and there are no right or wrong answers. Please answer honestly. If none of it app...

This is different to what you’re expecting probably - but when I turned 45 I stopped with all the cleaners, toners, creams etc. I wear no make up and simply cleanse with a couple of cotton pads and cold water. If my face is actually dirty (eg sea swimming or dusty hiking) then I use a gentle soap and water. My skin is so much better and it costs nothing.

Nope...I've used Clinque since I was a teenager as I have very sensitive skin due to EDS. Lots of people tell me I don't look my age !!

Glycerine is a fantastic skincare ingredient that doesn't get love because it's not fancy and scientific. I get glycerin and rosewater mixed from Amazon and my skin feels dewy and comfortable for hours.
