Postgraduate student seeking women for anonymous dissertation survey

DissertationGirl · 15/07/2026 09:10

Hello,
I'm a postgraduate student conducting research for my dissertation on politics and society. I'm looking for women who would be willing to complete a short anonymous survey about their experiences and perspectives.
The questionnaire takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Participation is entirely voluntary, and all responses are anonymous and will be used solely for academic research.
I appreciate that Mumsnet members receive many requests to take part in surveys, so thank you for considering mine. Every response is genuinely valuable to my research.
If you would like to participate, the survey is available here:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/S82S2TW
Thank you very much for your time.

Experiences and perspectives about what?

It’s on attitudes to DEI and ‘woke’.

You’re missing section C, some questions are a bit curt (‘Explain’), and I’d like to see a link to your uni ethics page, your uni email, and know what uni you’re actually at.

But full marks for asking about sex!

MyThreeWords · 15/07/2026 09:50

It looks like an interesting survey, but I think I would find it hard to complete in some respects. I view the word 'woke' as essentially without a meaning, because it has been so comprehensively weaponised as a slur or a tribal flag. There is plenty of space for me to state that, but then there is at least one question ("Which British politician would you describe as woke), possibly more, that requires me to attach objective meaning to it.

Also, I don't feel confident participating in research without knowledge of the educational entity sponsoring it, and the opportunity to check up on it via the university website or similar. Too many worries about confidentiality in this era of doxxing and abuse.

Full marks for being one of the rare people who has found the correct MN location for a questionnaire of this type.

But I wouldn’t dream of responding with no information on your institution, your level of study, or who you are.

MiddleAgedDread · 15/07/2026 09:56

Another not responding without uni details which should be on there. Also, don't use acronyms unless you spell them out first, I had to google what DEI is!

Hmmm, this is a bit suss.

Quote from the survey's first paragraph:

"Rebecca LYNE under the direction of Louise Dalingwater at Histoire et dynamique des espaces anglophone - Sorbonne Université"

If you google Rebecca Lyne and Sorbonne Université, search results from the Sorbonne pop up, so this seems legit.

@DissertationGirl, do you understand the difference between LGB and the longer collections of initials?

Done! Please ensure you publish the results here when complete!
