Do British mums care about ageing and what do they do?

Hello mums! ’m building a nutrition brand specifically for women over 40 because honestly, so much of the wellness industry still feels either aimed at 20 year olds or just men.

A lot of women I speak to say they’re noticing changes in energy, strength, recovery, muscle tone, weight distribution and just generally not feeling quite like themselves anymore, even when they’re exercising and eating well.

We’re trying to understand what women actually want from products in this space before we launch anything, so we’ve put together a short survey (takes about 5 minutes).

Would hugely appreciate anyone filling it out or sharing with friends/relatives in this age group.

There’s also a chance to win a £100 Amazon voucher as a thank you.

Hi OP. I’m part of your “target market” and kindly say to you - don’t waste your time, energy or money.
There are so many highly funded brands in this “space” that your chances of failure absolutely dwarf your chances of success.
(And the patronising messages - ooh hormones! Muscle mass! Care for yourself! - that we are already inundated with really don’t endear any product to us.)

Iocanepowder · 18/05/2026 08:32

Op i’m not even 40 yet and even i’m already bombarded with this stuff through SM and also magazines. Literally everything is about perimenopause.

Nutrition Geeks for example is an increasingly recognised brand and they are also already doing this.

I think women in their 40s have more of a lack of time issue more than anything, especially as more women are having kids later. I had my last one at 35 but it still means when i hit 40, i’ve still got half a year left of 1 child still in nursery.

Do we care about ageing? The alternative is much worse.

DalmationalAnthem · 18/05/2026 09:11

I haven't done the survey as it seems to be about protein powder which doesn't interest me.
I'm early 40s, childfree and have disposable income. I want delicious food and peace and quiet.
Hating myself in the mirror and trying to hold back retching from drinking a powder thing etc doesn't make me feel good.

That would be full of protein tho

🤣😂🤣

I genuinely wasn’t trying to mansplain - If anything, the reason I’m interested in this space is because women in my life have struggled and I’ve seen how confusing/noisy the whole landscape feels. What I’m actually trying to understand from threads like this is: in the middle of all the wellness marketing, supplements, influencers, HRT conversations, conflicting advice etc. who do women actually trust anymore? And what support feels genuinely useful versus exhausting or patronising.

You’ve come on here today to how worried you are that women feel patronised, yet you’ve managed to do it in a patronising way. The irony.

There is no gap in the market, it sounds like you are just trying to find ways to make a fast buck.

I am curious how much the OP spent on this thread!! Well worth it if it stops this nonsense idea in its tracks!

£30 I think?

Money well spent if you ask me.

Hopefully @Busybeeontwofeet and of course @ByAmusedNewt will realise this doesn’t have legs.

I really hope you haven’t actually invested any money in this “idea” @Busybeeontwofeet ?
