A friend of mine is in her mid-40s and has recently met someone who lives in the UK. They both have Hungarian citizenship, and she’s considering moving over to be with him.
She’s a hard worker, always had been,and has basic English, but she doesn’t have any qualifications that are particularly in demand.
Does anyone know what options she might have under the current UK immigration rules? Is it even possible for her to move to the UK in her situation? I’d be really interested to hear about the likely costs, the application process, and especially any personal experiences from people who’ve been through something similar.

I don’t think it is possible, unless she meets the criteria for a skilled worker, global talent or graduate visa.

Depending on the immigration status of the person that is already in the UK, they might be able to sponsor her.

I don’t think anyone’s suggested otherwise, but as I understand it, her options are limited to three types of work visa, none of which she would qualify for.

Out of curiosity what has she got to offer the UK?

Will the boy/girlfriend be able to support them even if they do get some variety of visa as they won't be eligible for benefits of any kind. Does she have adequate savings to support herself as she won't be able to work?

It's impossible to answer that question without knowing a lot more about the circumstances of the person currently living in the UK.
Its quite a complex area of law and your friend will need advice from an immigration lawyer.

You don't decide whether the UK is 'full up'' or not.

There are laws regarding immigration and work visas that people need to follow and it is possible for people depending on their situation to move to the UK.

Thats my opinion, based on what I see around me.

She wouldn’t claim benefits, her partner has his own house and employed full time.

She can’t simply move here because she feels like it though. She has nothing to offer the UK. Why doesn’t he move to Hungary?

Does he earn £29,000, if the visa he entered the UK on was issued after April 2024? If he entered before that, the old minimum income figures apply, as I understand it. The Home Office also needs to see documented proof of the relationship. If they’ve never lived together, this is much trickier. You say ‘recent’ — how recent is this relationship?
