Tired crawl in here to say hello !
Its been a long week already , and its only Tuesday!
Many Happy Returns of the day for tomorrow BookofCarol ( hope I have remembered right ...), sorry to hear abot your aunt.
We did get out to the shops the other day - we have bitten the bullet and bought a new tumble drier ( mine died after 35 years+ of faithful service , and have been using the one DD1 has ! ) , and a new roller blind for a bedroom window - thats the bedroom DGS has been using , and I am going to be converting it into my little craft room 😊
DD1 got the keys Friday , and we went on Saturday , cleaned , vacuumed , made a list of ( mainly minor) things to do . the gas combi boiler isnt working quite right , it keeps on showing a fault , and you have to reset it . So DD1 rang around , and someone is going to come first thing Thursday morning - so I am up and going in for 8 o clock , as he is doing it before his regular calls ( early start for me - it takes about 45 mins to get there at that time of the morning) . Tomorrow DH and I are going through with some small bits of furniture we have picked up off our local selling site - a computer desk for DGS , and a useful butchers block , so we are filling the car up with anything we can . We need to start tackling ivy which has grown up the side of the house , and monster weeds ( it was tidy back when we looked , but hey its spring! ) and a toilet cistern which is slow to refill . All minor in the scale of things , but helpful to get sorted if possible .
I have read , but brain is too tired to remember much ,but nice to see you had a good time FridayNigh , and you are plodding on DirtieGertie
waves to everyone
Take care all x

Thebookofcarolagain · 21/04/2026 23:08

Thanks x two @bookbook , yes I am 21 again tomorrow 😄
Busy busy for you getting Dd settled. How lucky you could get stuff locally for cheaper than new, nothing like a good bargain. Shame about all the niggles though. Shouldn't they have said about the boiler in the house sale? That's mean of them. Hope it's all fixed pdq.
Don't think your td owed you anything 😄 (but I bet the new one doesn't last as long! Nothing does these days)
That's not reassuring me much about my lip @DirtyGertiefromno30 🤣🤣

Good morning everyone 🤗
Happy birthday @Thebookofcarolagain 🎂🥂 hope you have a really fab day, lots of treats, a bit of spoiling and something nice planned. Eat loads of cake, do absolutely nothing you don’t want to do, and fully embrace being 21 again (with added wisdom and better snacks) 🎂🥂✨
If you’re turning 21 again then your lip hasn’t got a hope of looking anything but fabulous 🤣
Going to Cwmbran for a quick jaunt but washing out first 😁
Hope everyone has a lovely day 🤗

You sound absolutely wiped out bless you @bookbook 🤗 .
Hope you’ve managed to sit down properly at some point.
You’ve still got loads done as per for you sweetheart. A new tumble drier after 35 years is brilliant service and a craft room sounds perfect for you😊
DD1’s place sounds like it’s coming together well. Just the usual teething bits really, boiler, cistern, ivy etc, all annoying but fixable thankfully.
Early start Thursday though, 8am with a 45 min drive is not fun 😬
Nice you’re all helping with furniture, makes it feel like home quicker. And yes, Ivy and weeds never miss Spring 🙄.
Hope you had a quiet evening and managed to put your feet up for a bit. It's so well deserved 👏😊

Thanks @DirtyGertiefromno30 . Home again.
Oops went a bit mad at garden centre! Got rosemary and thyme to put in a pot out back, 2 bush tomatoes and a round cucumber plant. Got a few alpines for the gravel out front plus a free one with the card i got in the post (there wasn't much choice tbh) Got a camomile for in between paving slabs at side of house I got a white foxglove, a lupin, a rununculus and nemesia, there were plants on offer and some were reduced so got a hollyhock, fern and pack of pansies. OMG😱 I have a busy time ahead. Couple need a bit of tlc but should be fine.

So many things I want when its all set up! Ds1 kept saying oh we must get these (fruit bushes) and do you want one of these? (David Austin roses) Yep once i am organised!
Kids got snacks and ds2 bought me a teeny jar of roast apple moonshine! He got salted caramel. I really fancied trying it but wonder if i will be able to drink it? 🤣
Had coffee and a cake at Cafe, was not getting food! £17.50 for fish and chips! £12 for a bacon/chicken sarnie! We are going down to the decent chippy for sit down fish and chips later.

We got fruit and veg at the shop outside the garden centre, got some heritage tomatoes and apples kids got stuff too. They had medjool dates loose...I did not buy! 😄
Phew knackered! It's only about 40 minutes trip there but its never ending double/quadruple bends, 20mph limits and we got stuck behind cyclists for ages. But we had fun, that's the main thing.
Ds2 also got me a ton of choc sweets and gave me them this morning, add that to the choc ds1 got me...help!

You came back with a whole allotment @Thebookofcarolagain 🤣.
Rosemary and Thyme, Bush Tomatoes, a Round Cucumber Plant, Alpines, Foxglove, Lupin, Ranunculus, Nemesia, Hollyhock, Fern and Pansies. It is going to look brilliant once it settles ❤️ 🌼
I love that Ds1 was already planning fruit bushes and David Austin Roses before you have even planted what you bought 😂
That roast apple moonshine sounds interesting and salted caramel sounds very moreish indeed 😋
Those café prices are shocking. £17.50 for fish and chips is ridiculous, no wonder you went to a proper chippy later 👍
That drive sounds tiring though .
And you are definitely heading for chocolate overload 🍫😂 Ds1 and Ds2 are keeping you very well supplied
Sounds like a brilliant birthday !
🎈 🎀 🎂 💐 🤗

Ah happy birthday @Thebookofcarolagain Bet you wish your body felt like 21 Wink and I'm sorry to hear about your aunt too.

Bless you @bookbook you have been very busy - I hope DD1 and DGS will be very happy in their new home... and you in your craft room!

Glad your Mum ticking along nicely @DirtyGertiefromno30

Nothing to report here apart from teenage behaviour eg do you need a hair cut? "no" 2 days later - I need to go for a haircut... and just before Easter - I think you need no school trousers "no, they're fine" 1st day back - I need new trousers Hmm Grin

DirtyGertiefromno30 · Yesterday 20:39

Haha that takes me back @FridayNighFeeling🤣
Typical teenage behaviour , just grin and bear it we have all been there . They know best 🤣.
Mind you it's a difficult age bless them ❤️

Thanks @FridayNighFeeling
Oh yes I remember the day...
Slap them with the old trousers to remind them for next time.😄😄
yep i wish i had my 21 yr old body back! This one is knackered
Yes it was a good day @DirtyGertiefromno30 had some cake once home. Had the Small Fry fish tea, you get bread and butter and a pot of tea which works out cheaper than all separately. It's just half a decent sized fish, plenty for me. Am trying the moonshine it has a very complex flavour but not harsh like you would expect. Tried a couple of sips and now have a bit in a glass with tonic as its 40 proof! Very interesting.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · Yesterday 22:50

Sounds like you’ve had a lovely day @Thebookofcarolagain . That Small Fry sounds perfect, just right without being too much, and you can’t beat bread and butter with a cuppa.
Moonshine with tonic though get you!
Nice way to relax once you were home, cake and all 🍰 🤗

Afternoon all.
Lovely here too @DirtyGertiefromno30 .
Been and got compost and sealant and a gun for bathroom. I had a gun but no idea where it's gone. Took bottles to bottle bank and then got diesel...how much???😱
Trimmed my new plants that had broken and grotty leaves ready to go.
Cut a few tulips and pink bells and mascari to replenish my little jug, looks lovely. There's more tulips to come.

Washing is out!
Coffee time before I set to with plants. Where do I start? Where are things going?

Thebookofcarolagain · Today 15:49

Ooh my back! Have planted and planted! Still have herbs, camomile and veg to do but that's a job for tomorrow.
Have had to get a pot for the last of the poppies and I put the fern in it to see if it will get established before I decide where to put it. Fingers crossed. Potted on another 2 seedlings in kitchen and put 3 nasturtiums out in planter, fingers crossed again.
I need to go and water everything but coffee and cocodamol are calling.
Not 100% everything is in the right place but will see.
Phew! Whose stupid idea was this? 🤣

DirtyGertiefromno30 · Today 17:31

Afternoon everyone ☺️
You’ve been on a proper mission @Thebookofcarolagain 😁
All the boring jobs done then straight into garden mode, no wonder your back’s complaining lovely. The Tulips, Pink Bells and Muscari in the jug sound lovely 😍 🌷
It’s all coming together even if you’re not sure on the placement yet, you’ll move things about anyway because that's what it's like at first 😁. Brave putting the Nasturtiums out though , fingers crossed 🤞
Hope you had a good sit down with that coffee and Cocodamol, you’ve more than earned it! Watering can wait a bit. Herbs and veg still to do but you are getting there well done you!
And yes whose idea was it 🤣
Mum was fine there thankfully 😊
And Mums friend was fine there too bless her . Bought her flowers, chocs and smellies . Job to know what to get her tbh , everyone has everything at their age but you can't go wrong with those really l suppose.
Just had pizza for tea early today because l didn't go able time for lunch .

I am freezing! Stupid tsp, stupid hose attachment, 8 stupid watering cans of water for all the bits hose doesn't reach. Been out for about half an hour brrrr it's cold out the sun. But I forgot I had sown lupin and other seeds in 2 pots outside and I have a few seedlings growing great guns so happy about that. Have a big pot with a sedum and some black leaved alpine/rockery plants in it. Thought i was gonna lose the sedum first year but its growing really well this year so am gonna have to move the alpines out. Will try them in the gravel i have some in a trough with my other 'dry plants' so fingers crossed. I have 2 nasturtiums i am keeping back a bit as insurance. Put them out during day then bring them in at night. They are all doing OK so hopefully will keep growing in both places.

Coffee and heat pad on to warm me up.
That sounds a good pressie @DirtyGertiefromno30 she is lucky you do so much for her.
We are just having mac and cheese, am gonna fry up the bacon in chunks to get it crispy to go in it. Got a pile of dishes to do as well, they just keep appearing!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · Today 17:58

Blimey that does sound cold @Thebookofcarolagain, no wonder you are frozen after all that. Eight watering cans as well, that is dedication ! Get that heat pad on you!
Your seedlings sound like they are doing brilliantly thoug. The Lupin coming through , your Sedum clearly decided it likes it there after all, funny how they sulk the first year then suddenly take off 🤣. Moving the Alpines into the gravel sounds perfect for them, they should be much happier there with the drainage. Good thinking keeping the 2 Nasturtiums as backup too.. Mac and cheese with crispy bacon sounds delicious 😋 proper comfort food. Shame about the dishes mind, they really do multiply on their own maybe leave them until you are properly warmed up 😊.
DH has been watering the garden for ages , he's just come in and fallen fast asleep 🤣
