Anyone returned to nursing recently?

I was a RMN for many years then left nursing to raise my young family. My kids are both now in primary school and I am considering returning to nursing. I’ve been out practice for nearly 10 years. I’ve turned 50 now and looking for some stability in my working life.

Has anyone returned recently, which route did you take, and how have you found it? All advice greatly received. Many thanks.

I did a RTP around 6 years ago. I was 50 at the time and had been out for around 12 years. It’s been ok but I don’t work on the wards but do a community day job.
Would I do nursing again if I had my time over? Absolutely not but end of the day I felt too old to retrain and wanted the financial stability. Same problems exist in the nhs that were always there but they seem more acute now.
I saw the RTP post on the nhs job site and applied. Course was approx 9 months and was paid as a band 2 whilst I did it.

Thank you @Girlintheframe that’s really helpful to know. One of my concerns were about the same problems existing.
Like you I’d be looking for a community post but I remember when I worked on a CMHT the caseloads were heavy back then.
I totally understand about feeling too old to retrain in something new. I probably need to think long and hard about this.

thanks again 🙏

Has anyone else returned to nursing after many years away? Or currently thinking about about it?

Thanks
