Bank HCA band 2 training

Hi! I’ve just applied to be a HCA on the bank. I’ve got a nvq2 in health and social care but my background of 20 years has been a beautician in a salon & currently I volunteer at the local hospital.
Iv applied now that my little girl is 3 and feel bank would suit my family. If I’m successful passed interview stage, how is the training normally before you’re allowed to book shifts? Is it weeks of training full time 9-5? It’s only me that can take me daughter to nursery and she’s in 9-3 3 days a week ( could book her in breakfast club if I need too )
If I got the job, how would this work? Any help would be great, thank you

When I did my training for bank it was 2 day shifts so 7am-7:30pm as shadow shifts plus around a week for manual handling, observations and frame work. The week was typically 9-5.

Shifts in the hospitals as a hca are usually days or nights, so 7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am you can be lucky and find some mornings or afternoons but you might be hard pushed to find the hours you need when your daughter is in nursery.

Good luck I hope it works out for you Flowers

The training will vary, depending on the trust . So your best bet is to call up the bank office and ask. Is the plan to work your bank shifts when your dh/ dp is on days off ? A lot of hospital work is shifts, with a 7am start for days, 12 hour night shifts or 9-5 in settings such as outpatients.

Are you a single parent? If so I would speak to the bank office when you get the training info and discuss options. If your child’s dad is around I think this is something you’ll have to organise between each other. Can he take annual leave or work flexibly those days?

Ahh thank you, that’s really helpful! ❤️ Were your training days all fixed/set dates? That’s the bit I’m most worried about with childcare 😂 Once I’m trained I’m hoping I can work around nursery/when my partner is home, but I know the initial training will probably need a bit of juggling! xx

Yes, I’m hoping to work around nursery days and then more nights/twilights when my partner is home from work. IF ( all being well ) I get offered the job, I will have to try and see what I can do around childcare for the training as I don’t want it to go against me having to juggle childcare. 🤞🏼

Thank you, yes I hope maybe this work will let him but he doesn’t drive so nursery drop off and pick up is all on me if he is working. But I can’t let a job chance go by if I’m able to get some help being flexible so just really hoping it’s going to work out IF I am successful 🤞🏼
