Hello, looking for some advice please, or anything I've not thought of. Long story but shorter version is my son has two chronic health conditions that caused him to be in hospital two years ago. I was off sick from my post as a nurse in nhs for 2 weeks following this, whilst he was in hospital undergoing investigations and treatment. Was on a stage 1 under absence policy at this time. On return got put on stage 2. I also have chronic health conditions and was off 3 separate days so stage 2 extended, due to end May this year. My son was then assaulted in Feb this year. I went off sick with a gallstone flare up then stress due to dealing with everything. Im also a single parent. On return to work, the lead nurse said my options were go to stage 3 hearing and I would be redeployed(potentially no job for me they said) or sacked, or apply for band 5 post and then I could reduce hours. Went for the demotion option. New lead nurse is now saying its not possible to reduce hours or work flexible hours, which was promised at stage 2 meeting. Had my union rep there too. I dont have the band 5 job acceptance in writing. Only verbally avcepted it over the phone. Just received stage 2 absence letter basically saying im going to band 5 due to home stress. My new boss has told me my flexible work request will most likely be declined but they are away on annual leave for 2 weeks. Reason is they dont know what they'd do with the two hours they'd lose. I only asked for 2 hours less a week. Im at the point of going off sick again as I cant sleep, im tearful all the time or just leaving nhs and seriously considering handing notice in. Been a nurse for 14 years in nhs and i dont necessarily want to do this. I feel ive been pushed in to demoting myself and they've already filled my post. Rumours are that they already told the person who was moving to my place before I even returned to work. I dont listen to rumours as gospel, but to hear this has made me very upset and deflated that I have no choice in my career and that I am not valued. Any advice greatly recieved. Thanks.
