Hello.
I’m 5ft 8 so fairly tall, i was just over 10 stone when i got pregnant but had terrible diet. Ate McDonald’s loads, barely excersized. Skipped alot of meals was a smoker. I’m now 26 weeks and I’m 14 stone! But my diet is now super healthy. Lots of fruit, salads, healthy tea. I’m eating 3 meals a day and not reallt snacking unless it’s an ice pop or fruit. No longer smoking. Is it normal for me to have put on so much weight? I feel huge and I’m so so swollen and in pain. I’m farting loads too and my stomach always feels full and in pain from trapped wind. My midwife says she won’t weigh me and says weight gain is normal but hasn’t actually checked what I’ve put on and says the swelling is normal because no protein or high blood pressure but this does not feel normal. Advise please

It’s good that you’ve now got your eating in check, so hopefully you won’t continue to gain too much.

Lots of people on here will say it’s fine. But unless you’re carrying multiples, 4 stone with 14 weeks to go is a lot of weight to gain. For balance, I am 5’8.5 and gained 20 lbs in my first pregnancy and my baby was a whopper.

You’re putting yourself at risk of GD, for one thing. Your midwife has checked your BP and protein, so don’t stress too much. As long as you’re staying active and eating healthily now, there’s not much else you can do.
