Hi everyone,
I decided to join mumsnet because after becoming a first time mum less than two months ago, this site has been so helpful! It’s much better than the fearmongering results Google displays every time you type in a simple question. (E.g. are candles safe around a baby? Googles response: No your baby will jump out the Moses basket and burn themselves then inhale the fumes and get asthma). I’ve already made a few errors so far that have taught me things already! These include:
Accidentally squirting saline solution in his nostril
Letting his head flop (a few times)
Panicking just because he spat up
Giving him anti-reflux formula without a doctors advice, leading to a scary 24 hours of tummy upset
Telling my husband I want a divorce just because he did the poppers wrong on baby’s onesie

What have you done wrong so far? 😅

Hello. Not a parent. I joined because I work in childcare.

Everybody has the odd moment when they spend a bit too long pushing on a door clearly marked "pull". I had a little spoonerism moment the other day when I used the words "pissing meople" instead of "missing people". I held my breath hoping that none of the children would start repeating the first bit. (They didn't).
I'm constantly getting names wrong, start singing songs then going totally blank with the words, putting clothes on backward, etc. Could be worse. A few months ago a member of staff forgot to put a nappy on a child.
