Hi all,

looking for a little advice, I’m a new mum and my baby is now 1 week old. I’m a little unsure on the best way to dress him for nighttime as I’m terrified of him being too hot!

At the moment I have the groegg and my room sits at 16.5 then drops to 15.9 early in the morning. The groegg constantly switches between the two temps as I live in an old house so it can be cold at night even if I have the heating on.

I currently dress my son in a short sleeved vest, sleep suit with two cellular blankets (both doubled over) one swaddles him (arms out) and the other tucked into the side and bottom of his mattress in his next to me, this way it stops him wriggling over to the side. I feel the back of his neck and chest and they always feel just warm when dressed this way and he sleeps well.

I did use the 2.5 tog tommee Tippee swaddle bag but he cried all night when in it, i Think he was too cold hence why we switched to the 2 blankets as when he was born the hospital swaddled him in 2 and put him in a hat. Not to mention it was roasting!

I’m basically looking to see if anyone has any other suggestions on keeping baby warm at night or even just a little reassurance that I’m on the right path😅.

thanks!

There is a chart on here: babyeze.co.uk/product/love-to-dream-swaddle-up-sleep-suit-1-0-tog/

Rule of thumb is one more layer than you

Maybe try a long sleeved vest or sleep suit too.

Also really unlikely he will overheat in 16 degrees so don't worry too much! Just use your common sense 😊 xx

That's exactly what I dressed my DS in at that age, basically same temp in our room too. Around age 3 weeks he started to tolerate the sleeping bag but we still put one cellular blanket on him as well. Follow your gut, they let you know if they're cold Grin
