Whats the difference between "Active" and "trending" topics here?

Active is simply most recent 50 topics to be posted with a message, Trending is the 50 topics with the most messages posted in last hour (my guess)?

I think trending is based on an increased number of clicks/views compared to other posts, rather than comments.

Active is based on recent comments.
