Young newbie- My DD has tongue tie

She's only 2 weeks but my nipples are cracked, and scabbed. We're planning on getting her tongue clipped, just waiting on insurance. It's hard for her to breast feed, makes her gassy and impatient. Nipple shields don't help the pain, and she won't fall asleep with a bottle. Any tips for easing the pain and making feedings more enjoyable?

My baby had tongue tie - was done really quickly by the nhs once noticed - and was a v quick job too! Made the world of diffference to feeding...

No actual advice for now but be reassured it makes such a difference to feeding!

Have you got any breastfeeding peer support groups near you? They were great near me for pracfical advice.

My baby is 3 days old and tongue tied. Def get to a support group and try and get it clipped asap.
My dd2 was also tongue tied and it was snipped in a week after referral do I'm hoping for the same again.
In the mean time nipple cream.. different holds and look at Kelly mom website.

surely you can get this done on NHS, if in the UK. If elsewhere, I'd get it done asap. 2 of mine had tt and neither fed properly until after it was done (quick and easy)

All three of mine had this. We got it cut ASAP (but did pay privately in the UK as the NHS referral process would have taken too long). I hear you on the boobs, what helped me was lashings of lanisol and circular wound dressings - they are available on prescription and have a gel like coating which is super soothing). Mine did take a bottl (NUK teat worked for us) and we also ginger fed.
