Long time lurker so decided to finally join up today! There are some hilarious posters on here. I’m a mum of 5. Looking forward to having a laugh, getting and hopefully giving some advice.

Hi, I joined up a few days ago after being a lurker for a while. I think it actually becomes more addictive when you're able to talk back!

Also new after a brief lurk. Still trying to understand some of the acronyms and emojis used. For example, "Respos" and a picture that looks like a Jammy Dodger.

There's a list of most of the acronyms somewhere but despite having being here for years I haven't worked out how to link on a tablet

Don't use the Jammy Dodger unless you want to insult someone, it's an expression of contempt to be used only if you think someone is being extremely goady.

The 'Respo' threads came about when someone started a thread about nobody responding to them. It's a long running series of threads with lots of regular posters, but they won't mind people joining in.

Enjoy - and be careful of AIBU, it can be a bit of a bear pit.

I'd guessed it was one that's not complimentary but all I could think of was that it meant someone was jammy.
Which didn't suit the context!

Not much to add except I've braved posting on the odd occasion.
If you like cooking, the Masterchef thread is full of lovely people.

@LaMarschallin it feels very different as a sgined up MN'er than a lurker! thank you for the pointer, more of a burner than a cooker, but i may pick up tips :)
