Dip your toes in & chat away. Find topics that interest you & jump in. I wouldn't bother to introduce yourself, just pile in as if you've been around for ages

Just be a bit careful with AIBU as that section has the most traffic & can be quite, erm, robust, so it might be best avoided until you've got the hang of the place. Lurk & read for a while first would be my advice.
