Hi, my wife and I are parents to 2.5 year old we called Alexa, before all this amazon device was around. We are now considering changing her name to Alexandra as we feel her name has now been highjacked, are we being paranoid?

Hey Chris, I can partly understand how it feels. We gave our daughter a name we thought was unique and now it seems like the name is everywhere.
Your paranoia is justified, however, I would suggest that you don't change your daughter's name because of a product. Products will keep coming and going, who knows some company will launch something names 'Alexandra.'
Maybe decide on the name purely based on how you feel about it.
XO

No you're not being paranoid. We named our son a name everyone really liked but when he was in secondary school that name and our actual surname were used for a really unpleasant character in a soap. The storyline went on throughout his teenage years. He hates his name now.
If the Alexa product disappears in the future you can always revert to Alexa as a nickname.

Thanks for your replies, it's nice that someone understands our situation, I feel like I'm going crazy. I just think Alexandra is more established as a name but she will obviously still get called Alexa but we are giving her more options for later in life
